Embassy Review : |
My interview was scheduled and I arrive there at 1.35pm. At the entrance, a man (seemed to me like Marines but they weren't wearing the uniforms I know, but they had on grey shirts) asked for my appointment later, he checked on his list and then explained to me how to find the entrance. You kinda feel like in the U.S. it's a little USA in Brussels lol.
Once there, I went through the security check, again you show the appointment letter and your passport. They will give you a ticket and keep your bag.
I then entered the embassy and took a ticket ( Immigration ) i waited for around 30min and it was probably 2.10pm when my number showed up on the screen. Again I showed my appointment letter and gave her my passport. She asked me for my birth certificate, police certificate (casier judiciaire), 1 picture, the I-134 (originals) and the attached documents (IRS, Tax Return, Pay Stubs). I went sit back again and after and other 15min I saw her again and went to her window. She scanned my picture and took my finger prints. She then told me that a man would call me on window 1 for the interview. Around 5min later My number got called again.
He greeted me and asked me how I am and asked me to lift my right hand and swear I'd say the truth during this interview. So, here's how it went:
Him: I see everything went well at the Dr. You and your fiancé met (like this), was it love at first sight?
Me: No, I was cold with him at fi--(he cut me and said Ok, Ok) -> he pretty much just wanted short answers.
He asked me about my fiancé's job and his sister (co-sponsor). He asked when I planned to travel, if my family has met him and like him, if I am ready to get married (he said if he's bad with me I should come back and not let him). He asked if I got my degree and what I would like to do in the US.
He corrected my english once (i used double negative) and did a joke or two (I have big problems understanding when one does a joke) told me I could come get my passport next week. I was like, you don't need the proof of relationship?? He was like no, I went through your file. It's all good. (i saw he had our I-129F petition in his hands)
It barely took 10min, I was out at 2.48pm and directly called my fiancé

Embassy Review : |
While I had purchased my ticket ahead of time to make sure I'd be able to arrive in the U.S. on January 1st and start the year with my fiancé, I was stressing for the POE. I had a 6hours lay-over before my next flight.
Here's how it went ... after a long flight I finally arrived in Atlanta, there weren't too many people there, it went pretty quick until I stood in front of an officer. I handed him my passport and my enveloppe, he called someone to come get me but as no one came after almost 5min, he decided to take me to the customs himself. (During those 5 min we talked a bit about my upcoming wedding, my fiancé, how we met, why we're getting married so soon, ...)
I just got advised to sit and wait until I heard my name. I waited for about an hour (there were may be 5 people before me but some had been waiting for over 2 hours), I was a bit stressed, I didn't even hear the officer calling me 2/3 times. I finally understood he was calling me and stood up. He was very friendly, asked how I am and asked me when the wedding would be. Then he handed me my passport back and .. that was it! I was like 'is that it?' and he said 'yes'
Be sure to plan enough time if you have a layover, I think 2hours is not enough, you'd just be in a rush and even more stressed. Know that you might have to take a shuttle between terminals and this can take a bit of time. Be prepared and have a good trip!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
