Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 17, 2015
Embassy Review : I arrived at the consulate at 6:45 am, there was already 2 person waiting in line. By the time they opened the doors at 7:30, there was 20+ people.

Had to show my interview letter and my passport, they handed me a number (#2 yay! the second person in line was turned away because they had a bag). Security check went smoothly, they even asked if it was everything my fiancé and I had on us because we only brought my paperwork, a book and his car key.

Went to the next room waiting for the elevator. 8 am they opened the doors. Smoothest elevator ride ever, I could barely feel it going up, but it was CROWDED. We got out and a lady instructed us on where to go if we had number.

About 5 minutes later I was called to window #4. A lady asked some question, I-134, Birth Cerficate, Police certificate, etc. I followed the order they told us on paquet four, but when they ask the paperwork, it is not in that order.

She was VERY quiet and I had to have her repeat a couple times because I couldn't quite hear her. We did fingerprints (Chubby and short thumbs so I had fun haha).

Went back to sit with my fiancé and waited about 15 minutes before I was called to a different room #8, it's a small room with no door, not like the counters when you give your paperwork.)

The man smiled at me and told me Good morning. I had to read the Oath and have my fingerprint taken again. He then asked me a few questions ;

Where did you guys meet? (World of Warcraft, he actually chucled)
How did you meet?
What does he do for a living?
Did you ever stayed longer than 3 months without a visa?
Had you ever had any trouble entering the USA?
Had you ever had any trouble with the law in the USA?
Have you or him ever been married?

He was going through all my paperwork and barely looked at me. There was a minute or so of silence where I was trying to stay composed and freaking out, thinking something was wrong. But he handed me the "welcome to the United States of America" letter and told me ; congratulations, we are approving you today. I was bouncing and saying thank you.

Overall, I have been Inside the consulate for 1 hour and 15 minutes, was out at 8:45 am.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
