Embassy Review : |
I had been preparing for the interview for a few days prior and so had worked myself up into a bit of a frenzy but I so did not have to worry.
After the initial shock of how much parking was (my advice is to take the train in as its something like $13.00 for one hour!) we arrived at about 12.30 for our 1pm interview.
After about 15 minutes we were called and taken into the office at which time my husband and I had to "swear to tell the truth" etc, and she took our id's.
The lady went through our file and as she was doing so started to ask me the usual, have you been deported, belong to any organisation etc questions. She then asked when we got married and started to explain that i would have the 2 year conditional status of which i will have to removed conditions within 90 days of that expiring.
This is where it got weird, she talked to my husband more than she did me, asking him if he had met my family, all about his job (he works for the government too so she was generally interested in his line of work) and just generally aimed the questions more at me. She finally asked me if i had met his parents and that was it.
She then asked if I had left the country since entering and I said yes at which point she asked me where my advance parol was. I knew I did not need it as I am K3 and my visa is multiple entry of which i explained and she then had to phone someone to check as she said she was not sure about that. The lady on the other end of the line obviously said what I had just told her and then she said "yes thats what i thought but i just wanted to check!". I thought it was pretty funny as it seemed I knew more about how K3 worked then she did.
She asked for NO evidence, even though i had bought a folder of things including evidence of our relationship, copies of everything etc. I really got the sense that her mind was elsewhere and it was almost like she couldnt be bothered other than getting us out the door. One of her girlfriends called during this time and she started to chat but then said she was in a interview and would call her back!!!!!!
At this point she told us we were approved and then explained she had updated our staus to say that my card was in production and i should recieve it in about a week. And that was it!
We were in and out within a hour! |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
