Embassy Review : |
My wife arrived at the consulate a hour before her scheduled appointment time at 9:30am. We did this in order to give her time to walk to the consulate (about 10 to 12 minutes from the hotel) and in case the previous applicants happened to finish with their visa interviews ahead of time.
There were 12 other applicants ahead of her whose appointments started at 7:30am. They were mostly American girls with Italian fiances who were applying for K1 visas, families applying for F4 visas, and one Italian man who was applying for a H1 visa. With that said her interview appointment took a total of 2 hours.
The lady conducting the interview was very nice, but professional. The interview questions were pretty straight forward... She asked my wife how we met, how long we've know each other, how many times have we visited each other, how old both of us were. She also ask about our professions and how long we have been in our current jobs. All in all these were pretty straight forward questions without anything unusual.
As for our documents, They only requested the below original documents:
Birth certificate
Police certificates
Marriage certificate
W2s for past three years
Tax Returns for past three years
2 passport photos of my wife
Passport of my wife
Note: They also requested the print out of the DS-260 application that my wife filled out online (They used the application as a reference to ask the questions). Fortunately my wife had printed out the full DS-260 application.
They ended up keeping the police certificates and the most recent year of both the W2s and Tax Returns. The CO said that they would return the other original documents with the visa when my wife received the packet.
As for the other documents that the consulate received from the NVC, they were given back to my wife at the end of the interview.
And that was it. CO explained to my wife that she should received the visa in 5 to 10 days. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
