Scheduled for an early morning, 7:45 AM interview.
We left our house early, which was good since we hit some traffic on the way in. All in all we arrived 7:40. Parking was just across the street ($5/20 min). Got through security and was directed to go to 2nd floor. registered with the front desk on 2nd floor at 7:45 AM.
Was surprised there were so many people waiting there that early in the morning. Estimated 70-80.
The wait was roughly 25 minutes. A lady came out and called my name - and we followed her in to her office. We were sworn in while still standing and was offered to sit down.
First she asked for government issued photo ID. We both gave her our driver licenses. Then she confirmed our names. She then explained she will ask my wife (petitioner) some questions first and follow up with some questions to me (beneficiary).
-- Questions --
To petitioner:
How did you meet?
Where did you first meet in person?
When did you get married?
Where did you get married?
Who married you?
Did your parents attend?
What is his date of birth?
What is his phone number?
Where do you live?
Do you currently work?
Beneficiary:
What is her phone number?
What is her date of birth?
Where do you live?
Do you currently work?
We then had some some general discussion about travel, friends, kids..
After that she moved on to ask all the yes/no questions on the I-485 as well as some discussion about the affiliation/groups and military service. We added some info on the affiliation/groups part and she asked me to spell out the name. After that she stamped the I-485 and told me that she had made 5 annotations and that I needed to sign to confirm I told the truth.
She then poked around a little in the computer and printed a paper which she gave us and said, well - this concludes the interview. I can't give you a decision right now as others need to review your case and I need to check some things in the system. She said that I should hear back within 120 days and I should refrain from contacting USCIS before 120 days have passed. She then said that normally it's way faster than 120 days and that I should receive a decision by mail soon. The then moved on to saying that the green card will be conditional since we haven't been married for two years. I will have to remove the conditions before two years pass else it will become unpleasant. I laughed and asked what that means - she said that we would have to go through this whole process again in that case..
She then escorted us out of her office and showed us the door, wished us a good day.
All in all it was very pleasant and she was very professional but had a very easy going attitude that I liked. I was quite nervous - not sure why and stumbled on my wifes birth date because I was thinking should I say it in numbers or speak out the actual month - and said it combined in the end which was just weird..

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
