My fiancée had her visa interview on 07/18. It was a very good experience though it took about couple of hours.
Her appointment was 9:15. She reached there by 8:45. As expected, she was told she cannot carry cell phones inside. She left everything with her dad and she went in.
Immigrant visa has a separate short line. She was asked to go to an Indian officer first who took all the documents - DS 160, approval notice, photographs and affidavit of support. They asked for the tax transcript in support of the affidavit. They did not ask for any proof of relationship surprisingly, though we were prepared with a ton of documentation. Questions asked:
1. What is your name ? DOB ?
2. Who is calling you ? name please ?
3. How long do you know each other ?
4. Is it a remarriage for both of you ?
5. What happened to your prev marriage ? (both)
6. Date and reason for divorce(both)
7. Your phone no ?
8. Are you currently working ?
9. Where would you live in US ?
10. Where are you working currently ?
11. Confirm your Ex's name
12. What is his dad's name
13. Have you changed your name after the prev marriage ?
14. Would you change your name after this marriage ?
15. What would be your new name ?
16. Have you been to US ?
17. Have you been out of the country ?
Gave the DV pamphlet and asked her to read it and then wait for the next interview.
She was called for the next interview, this time with the American officer(CO). The officer greeted her and explained that she will be the officer who will be interviewing her:
1. Who is calling you ?
2. Where does he live and work ?
3. How and how long do you know each other ?
4. Are you married now ?
5. Do you have any plans for your marriage ?
Then she said "Congratulations, your visa is granted. Expect to have it in the mail in a week".
The whole process with wait time took about 2 hrs. We are happy and excited about the outcome. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
