Consulate Review: Juarez, Mexico
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 18, 2014
Embassy Review : Everything went smoothly on the process. I arrived at Juarez on Wednesday night Aug 13th and stayed at Quality Inn, very clean hotel and friendly staff.

For the medical exam I went to Servicios Medicos La Frontera, I made an appointment a week before and was scheduled at Aug 14th 8:00am but you can just walk in. There was no line by the time I got there and the whole examn lasted around 30 minutes (blood exam, x-ray, vision, physical). Quality Inn doesnt have a gym but they give you a pass for Total Fitness in Plaza las Misiones so working out in such a complete gym is a great way to spend the morning while you wait. Went back for the results at 1:30pm as instructed and another half hour wait. Crossed to El Paso with tourist visa in the afternoon and no problems there but the officer actually asked to see the paperwork after some thorough questions.

Interview on Aug 15th at 7:15am, and same as everybody: Waiting Room first, then security check and you get a number, go to next building to get in line. First window they collect some documents, next line was to be called for the interview. It was in spanish and he asked:

Have you always entered to the US with a visa?
Have you had any problems with the law?
Do you have any tattoos?
Where is she from? (her last name is not very common)
What language we speak between us.
He looked at the photos that were initially sent.
Took my tourist visa.

Your Visa has been approved! then gave me the instructions to track the Visa and a brochure I haven't read.

There is order during the process within the Consulate, the employees are organized, but there is so much people and the line I was in for the interview there were only two windows opened, so it took around 4 hours to get out of there. Just make sure you have everything listed on the instructions and here, make sure to appear confident and give simple straight answers.

Thanks VJ! this forum has been very helpful.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
