Embassy Review : I traveled to Kiev to attend the medical and interview. We scheduled the medical on Tuesday and the Interview for Wednesday.
The medical was scheduled for 9:30am, the address is a little tricky to find as it is not street facing, you have to go through a tunnel under a building and it is in the back, I recommend taking a taxi there. Even our taxi driver got lost, we took a long ride around it. You have to stand around outside and wait for someone to come to the locked door, once they find the beneficiary on the list they let them in. I would not recommend going to the medical if you are not the beneficiary because they will make you stay outside, if the weather is bad, you could be in for a miserable wait, up to 3 hours. Luckily for me it was a nice day. After the medical, you come back at 3pm and get a sealed envelope with your results, which you then take to the interview with you.
Our Interview was scheduled for the next day, 8:30am. The consulate is really not near a hotel and is a 15 minute walk from the metro station, I recommend taking a taxi there, then the metro back. If you have someone to wait outside the embassy, then you can take your phone and call a taxi, however, if you don't, then you will have no way to call. You are also required to only have your documents and in clear folders, nothing else. They say to not get there more than 15 minutes ahead, but there will already be a nice line before that. You will go into the first building and go through security, very thorough too. You will also be given a slip of paper with a number, which you will use throughout the process. You will go out the back of that building, through a courtyard to the embassy building. You show your paper and they show you where to sit down. There are a series of windows with dividers between them, from right to left they are numbered 6 through 13. 6 is the cashier. There are displays above each window which will show your number when it is your turn. You will be called to a window from 7 to 11, they will collect all your information required in the checklist. The only thing they asked for I didn't give them was more photos. I didn't have any new ones since that was the first we were together since we petitioned, I had a second copy of my I-129F petition and just pulled the photos from it and gave it to them again. I don't know why they needed it, I was standing right there They also give a pamphlet about rights once they are in the US. Once they have all your information they tell you to sit back in one of the chairs and when they are ready they will call you to Window 12 or 13 (left side). You can sit there and actually listen to interviews taking place and get an idea of what they are asking before you are called up. One lady did hers in English and I could hear the questions, she was pretty nervous, but the lady giving the interview said all was going to be ok.
It took about an hours wait before we saw our number light up, so we both went up to the window. Tanya was given a paper to read with the oath on it. It was in 3 different languages, she read it in Russian since that was the easiest for her to read. We planned for her to do the interview in English, but the officer just went with Russian since she read the oath in it. The basic questions were asked, how did we meet, how many times did we meet in person, how did we communicate/maintain relationship, What is my work, where do I live and a few others. She later told me she asked about the age difference (which isn't that big!). When I saw her pull up the pamphlet and asking if she knew her rights, I knew we were good. She then asked me in Russian if I could speak Russian I know enough to know what she was asking, and I replied back in Russian that I poorly understood it, and she got a good chuckle out of that and said at least you are trying She asked me about my children, their ages and if they live with me. I answered her quickly looking right in her eyes and she said good. She then said we were approved! She said the passport would be sent by courier. I asked if it was right to her door and she said yes. It arrived the next Tuesday.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
