Embassy Review : |
We (my daughter and I ) arrived in Bogota on monday night, the next day we had laboratories early in the morning and medical examination with Dr Dennis in the afternoon, he gave us the results after a couple of hours.
Interview was on thursday, we arrived at 8:30am, handed the documents listed in the package of instructions to a Colombian lady (a bit rude) who asked us to wait to be called. After a 4hrs wait finally the consul (young man) called us for a quick interview, here are the questions:
-Who's the petitioner?
- Where and when did you met him?
- Have you ever been married, convicted or visited the US?
-Tell me about your wedding plans.
He typed in the computer for a minute then said welcome to the US, your visa has been approved, your passport will arrive to the consular section in Medellin in a couple of weeks and handed me a pamphlet about domestic violence.
Recommendations:
-Eat well before your interview (You don't know how long you will have to wait) if you go with kids bring a candy or something quick to eat.
-Bring a jacket, it can get very cold in Bogota.
-We stayed at the Tryp hotel (across the street in front of the embassy, very convenient) other good hotels nearby: Hotel Miranda House, Hotel Embassy Park and Hotel Macao
-Dr Dennis: highly recommended, very professional.
-Be patient...very patient
-We went to the embassy one hour before scheduled, tell the girls with the blue jackets you are going for K1 Visa, they will let you in,you don't have to wait until the time of your appointment.
-Cellphones are allowed, you can actually text or make quick calls. I called my fiance as soon as I left the interview window :D
-My 15yrs old daughter (K2) was not interviewed, the CO only took her fingerprints.
Good luck!!

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
