Consulate Review: United Arab Emirates
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 19, 2014
Embassy Review : I would like to share my detailed up to date experience with US Embassy Abu Dhabi for K-1 Visa. I noticed that no one is posting new reviews although so many people got their visas already and they are now in US.

- The time in appointment letter was 8:00 AM but you should be there about 7:30 AM.
- Park your car in the visitors parking area (Ask the security and they will guide you)
- Do not carry with you any bag even briefcase and mobiles too. Leave them in your car. Otherwise they won’t let you inside. You can put your papers (if they are so much) in plastic nylon bag. My mobile was about to melt in 48C, first time I see a message on android mobile saying (wait until your device cool down....geeeez)
- You will stand in the queue for security check. Make sure to tell the security guy which visa you are. There is different queue for Non-immigrant visa and another one for immigrant visa.
- Once you finished the security you will be allowed to go inside. They will give you token number and you sit and wait until you see your number called and shown on the screen
- Once they call your number, you go to the window and the CO will ask for your papers. She will all the copies and leave all the originals with you. She took originals only for (Medical exam results without x –ray film) + I-134 affidavit of support and the passport 2 photos (2”X2”).
- She did not take any evidence of relationship (no one asked for this in the whole process even in the interview, not photos nor chat ....etc)
- She will give you a Blue card and tell you to go to window number 1 to pay the fees for K-1 visa ($240), take them cash with you.
- Get the receipt and get back to the same window. The CO will be waiting for you. She will take the receipt and the passport and tell you to sit and wait for your number to be called again.
- You will sit and think that your number will show on the screen again. But it won’t. Instead, someone will call your number on the speaker and one lady (will guide you to enter a room.
- You open the door and enter that room. It is the interview room with one window but you can sit on a chair this time, no more standing.
- An American CO will conduct the interview and it will last about 15- 20 minutes.
- He is so professional the questions are all normal ones nothing difficult or challenging, just confirming the information about you and your fiancé(e). All the answers in the papers in your both lives
- After that he will inform you that the interview is done and the visa will be ready in 3 business days
- He will hand you pink carton card with the day to pick up your visa circled (at 2 PM).

Picking up the visa:

- They wont let anyone inside before 1:45 PM. So if you go so early you will either wait under the sun or in your car with the AC is on.

- You will go through the same security check and go inside and given token number.
- Once your number is called, you will pick up your passport with new visa and the brown sealed envelope (DO NOT OPEN).
- Go home and prepare for your wedding lol

Impression:

- All experience was professional and neat and organised. Awesome experience free of any annoyance

Good luck everyone
God bless ☺
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
