Embassy Review : So I had my K-1 Visa interview today.

Everything went great. I got to the Embassy at around 7:45 and joined the line that was starting to build up. A lady came and asked me my appointment time and as I was a little early I was moved into a separate line.

When I got to the front of the line I was asked to show:

My Passport

Appointment Letter

DS-160

After that I went through the security barriers and spoke to the receptionist inside the Embassy who gave me a ticket number and headed into the 'waiting area' which was basically just a huge hall with a really big tv in the front of it spewing out ticket numbers faster than Dwayne Chambers on red bull.

Once my ticket was called I went to the relevant window and was asked for the following documents:

Birth Certificate
Passport
DS-160
Appointment letter
I-134
Police Certificate
And the receipt I got from paying the visa fee

Upon reviewing my documents the very friendly lady had a query about my I-134 as my Fianceé's father was 'sponsoring' me and I did not have an I-134 from my Fianceé. All that was needed to clear it up was a letter of intent from my Fianceé.

I got told to go back to the waiting area and wait for my number to be called again and after what seemed like an eternity (45 minutes - 1 hour) my number was finally called.

I went to a different booth this time and the lady there already had my documents. She gave them a quick glance and asked me the following questions:

How did you meet your Fianceé?

How have you maintained the relationship since then?

What does she do for work?

After I answered the questions she gave my documents one last glance over and finally said "I am going to recommend the case be approved and you can expect to receive your passport and visa within 5 - 10 working days"

I was not asked to produce any supporting evidence such as photographs or plane tickets (Which I obviously had just in-case)

Overall a very easy process and the IOs where very friendly and definitely put me at ease.

Can't wait to fly out and by with my love!!!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
