Event Description

Embassy Review :
I arrived at the park at 6:45, right at that time the large group of applicants starting heading toward one corner of the park to gather around the consulate official who began to read out 400 names. I expected to hear roughly 200 names after reading past reviews and ofcourse expected to hear my finace name called, but that did not happen initially and here is why.

I was not aware that the 400 names being called were names for temporary visas and especially when the official started off by saying "I am calling all names despite your interview time." So after an hour, he called all names and then asked " is there anyone here for a permanent (definitiva) or fiance visa." My finace and I were then told to walk down the block over to the first entry gate and have my finace turn over his carnet De identificacion.

The first entry gate took his identification and we were told to walk back toward the park and stand by the sign the states "Salida definitiva" which is small and posted near the opposite corner of the park where the group gather to hear the masses of names called, it is also right next to one of the little storefronts selling soda, beer, etc.

The entry gate said they would be out around 1030 to call names for permanent visas.

At 9:00 one of the two same officials who called out the 400 names returned and called names for the permanent visas using the carnet De identification, not from any specific list.

We got in line and walked back down to the first entry gate, where my fiancé was given back his carnet and where I presented my passport, they let me right in behind him( I was with him every step of the way, never told to go to other side of street or had to enter a different way or time without him).

Second point of entry there is man who asked my fiancé his name and asked appeared to check his name of a list we than proceed through a small security checkpoint( where they search your bag if you choose to bring one, which I did because I brought in some snacks for the wait). Through the check point there is a set of stairs to your right, a ramp in front of you and a trailer type room to the left of the ramp. There is a woman who stands at the bottom of the stairs who will hand you a number when you tell he what type of visa you are there for. There are only two colors, red and blue. Red numbers are for permanent visa intervoeews. You then go into the trailer type room to the left of the ramp. There is a woman who collects the documents and evidence from your fiance in that room. She may not want to take all your relationship evisnece, but will tell you that you can hand it off at the next window. Try to give her the important stuff only If u have a lot, but don't fear, they will take it at the next window. After the lady finished taking everyone's papers (there was only about 30 ppl for permanent visas) we were called in number order and went up the stairs to the left and into the room on the left. Then you wait for your number to be called and asked to step to window one to pay the 265 fer. Then come back to window where they took some more of my relationship evidence and then told us to proceed to the interview ×wiaitng room (don't worry if your fiance is not fingerprinted in this room, which mine was not, the interviewer ask ed him if his were taken, and they have machines and the ability to do it before actual interview starts).

The interview waiting room is small with super uncomfortable wooden charis. There are 8 windows. 5 windows for the temporary visas and 3 for the permanent visas. It was about 12:00 when we got into the room and they did not started calling any red numbers until after 1pm. We were red 21 out of 29.

The wait began. There is one tv directly in front of you that shows the numbers for rooms 6, 7, 8, but the interviewres do not always update, so listen cause they may just call out your number from the room or over the loud speaker. The numbers were called out of order it went female red 2 to 8 to 6 to 1 to 14, etc, which was no fun.

Finally at 3:45, the last number called for the day was mine, red 21. My finace and I went into room seven which has a door and the interview lady was behind glass. She took my fiances fingerprints and then asked me to leave and close the door behind me ( which made me a little nervous because the one other couple there was interviewed separately but not told to close the door). A little over ten minutes later, because I watched the clock, my fiance came out and told me to head in. I will also note that she had a copy of my Facebook page which I did not provide.

I was asked:

1. How many times I had been to cuba

2. What brought me to cuba in the first place.

4. How I met my fiance.

5. What our plans for marriage were

He was asked:

1. If I had family in cuba.

2. How many times I had been to cuba

3. How we met.

4. What my profession was

5. If he was a communist

6. What are plans for marriage were.

7. If he spike English, and if I spoke spanis

8. How we communicated

9. If I had children or had previously been married.

My fiance said it took long because she would ask him a question, flip through our paper work and then ask another one.

After she spoke with me she called him back in and told him his visa was approved, and to return in one week

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
