Comments : Interview in Chicago was about 40 minutes long. The officer asked us questions back from our K1 visa application. She asked if we travel together to Argentina. Asked what our birthdays were and about family. The officer asked how we met and why we decided to get married. What our wedding date was how many people attended our wedding. Asked if we have any children or pets. Officer said she couldn't approve our case that day due to her not having the entire file in front of her. She only had copies of part of our file and our I-751 application.

Consulate Review: Argentina
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 2, 2014
Embassy Review : I arrived to the embassy area at 08:40 AM (I arrived that early because of my anxiety ).

I walked to the main entrance at 09:00 AM and I walked to Window #1, I showed them the copy of my appointment e-mail, after checking that on their system the guy at the window gave me a paper that granted my access to the embassy.

I went through security and I left my phone there ( If you have your cellphone with you they ask you to leave it there but first you need to turn it off, after that, they give you a paper with a number to get your phone back when you leave ).

Then I walked to step #4 ( because they take the steps like this #1 = Line outside the embassy [you don´t need to go to the line if you have an appointment for an immigrant visa ] / #2 = Information at the main entrance / #3 = Security / #4 = Identity check (fingerprints and info)/ #5 = Interview waiting Lobby ) without going the non-immigrant visa line and they checked my info smooth and quickly, then I walked to step #5 ( main building inside of the embassy ) and the lady at the reception asked me my name so that she could check in their system and then she called someone on the phone to notify them about that I arrived, she told me to find a seat on the right section and to wait until someone call my name.

I waited for at least 20 minutes then a lady from window #14 called me and the first thing she said was that this wasn't the actual interview, but that she only needed to check some of my papers, She asked me for my birth certificate (the original and a copy ) , the 4 2x2 in pics and some pictures for evidence of the relationship ( I brought a lot of pictures with me but she asked me to choose the most representative ones ).

After that she told me to go back to my seat and wait to be called by the cashier to pay my fee. 20 minutes later the cashier called me and I paid $240 USD. The guy told me to go back to my seat and wait to be called for the interview located at room #5.

A half hour later I was called on the speakers to go trough the door of room #5.
A lady who was the interview asked me to have a seat and then she return some documents to me from package #3 and my birth certificate.
She asked me these questions:
1- how and when my fiancée and I met?
2- When was her first visit to argentina?
3- how long did she stayed here?
4- When did you traveled to the states?
5- when and how did you proposed?
6- When are you planning to get married?

After those question she said: Your visa is approved!!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
