Comments : Customs and Immigration Officer lecturing me on the high costs of living in D.C. and he doesn't judge a single income is sufficient to support two persons, (although the single income was way above the poverty line).

Comments : Initial RFE issued January 13, 2014 and apparently posted twice. SR placed but not even an acknowledgement let alone a response. Contacted USCIS Ombudsmen on the 36th day of waiting from initial RFE issuance. The ombudsmen office agreed to help for two main reasons, (1) the down-stream effects on the processing of my EAD/AP and (2) due to the sporadic nature of the status updates I was receiving from USCIS it was clear that there was something not quite right. The Ombudsmen contacted USCIS on February 18 and on that same day USCIS issued a new RFE dated February 15, 2013. I received this RFE on February 20th and replied February 22.

Note my case is being handled at the National Benefits Center, Lee's Summit MO.

Received mt Greencard without interview and without receiving the interview waiver letter. August 21st began to receive the first wave of Card production/ decision emails. August 29th I received the tracking number. September 2, I received the card.

Comments : First Card Production email received 3/1 (Saturday), the same email received again 3/3 (Monday). Due to the mishaps on my I-485 I called and spoke to a Level-2 I-Officer on that Monday after receiving the second email to be told the emails were in error and my EAD had not been approved. Then 3/6 I received a third email saying that my EAD card had been mailed and around 5 hours later a fourth email containing the USPS tracking number. So despite the level-2 IO on the 1800# informing me the online system was incorrect, he was in fact incorrect.

Consulate Review: London, United Kingdom
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 7, 2014
Embassy Review : More of an event to relay the facts of your relationship than to be interviewed per se. For instance, I was asked the following questions, name, date of birth, where you will live in the U.S., when you will go, when will you marry, where did you and your partner meet and what does your partner do for a living. The answers were very basic and they did not require much detail on anything. They checked I had all the correct paperwork, and that was basically it.

There were two negative points to my experience, (i) the charge for leaving items at the chemist around the corner. Complete rip-off but then again they know you have very little choice if you have traveled up to London alone for the interview; and (2) the US size passport photos I was informed to have taken were deemed too big by the embassy assistant and took my standard UK ones instead. The US size photos are almost 50% more in price. Another waste of money. javascript:emoticon('')

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
