Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 21, 2014
Embassy Review : Alrighty. My interview was scheduled for 10:30am but I got to the consulate at 8am and they let me in. A lady checked my name off a list after seeing my loomis confirmation. Security was fine the elevator ride was good, and it was nice to know which door to face though it didn't matter since there were only 2 other people other than my husband and me. Oh whale.
Anyways the visa receptionist gave me my number and almost immediately after settling down I got called up to window #2. This part seemed a little tense. I had all these papers with me and I was super prepared but I fumbled a lot and she asked for very little. Out of everything I had with me, including husband's birth cert., like they asked for, I only gave her my original marriage cert, birth cert, police checks (I had two, for reasons) and i-864ez.
The woman had a "no nonsense" attitude it felt like but I made her smile ONCE. After she collected my documents she made me scan my fingers and thumbs on the finger scanner machine! Then I believe we confirmed some things like addresses and my parents and when she was satisfied she gave me the "Domestic Violence" papers with my number written on it.
Then I waited. I'm not sure how long because I didn't check to see how long this first interaction lasted, but I know that it was 9:30ish when we left the consulate, but I digress. After waiting for not too long because I just chatted with my husband the whole time I was finally called to window #7. The woman at this window was very friendly and greeted me with a smile and asked how I was doing.
I recited something on the window to her, it was very long winded because they neglected to add periods and commas and I was forced to make my own. Then we chit chatted.
These were the questions asked:
Who filed for you?
How long have you been married?
How long have you known each other/how did you meet?
Is this (both) your first marriage?
Do you have any kids together? (Not yet )
Where does he live?
Where do you live?
(Just an offhand comment on that we fly a lot to see each other)
What does he do? Is it steady or freelance work?
What do you do?

Then we chit chatted some more and she approved me! I asked if she wanted any more of my documents but she said "No, but thank you for bringing them " So all-in-all it was good.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
