Comments : I didn't have to have an interview. I also didn't receive any notification of the status update of my case. I had to keep checking online every time until it was changed from "case was received on" to "New card is being produced". Five days later. It changed to "My card was mailed to me". I received the New card three days later with 10years validity from the date of the lifting of conditions.

Comments : My case has been administratively closed around the last week of March 2019 ,due to failure to appear for my interview. I was overseas and was not able by any way to make it back on time. By mid April, I mailed a kind hand-written request to reopen my case at my local office. Thank God, they put me back on queue for the interview scheduling. I got a new appoinment, a new chance to appear on sep 16th.

Consulate Review: Algiers, Algeria

Event Description

Embassy Review : Well i am algerian woman spouse of an US citizen. I had my CR1 visa interview on June 19th, 2014 at th e US Embassy in Algiers. It was a very long day since i leave far away from Algiers. Anyway, i got there at 1:15pm (13h:15), they took my passport outside before i enetered and they gave me the visitor card with my turn number ( i had number 6). Then a woman asked me to enter to check my stuff and take my phone with my ID card. I was shown where to go then so i went to the waiting room. After few minutes a man called on me and asked me to go to one of the gate ( don't rememebr the number of it) he gave back to me some of the papers that they don't need, he asked me for a new criminal record, and for new photographs ( since the ones i've sent to NVC weren't the good ones, the same man had already called me on phone when i was on my way to Algiers and asked me to take new pictures and bring them with me for the interiew cuz they weren't goinna accept the ones i've sent to NVC, cuz my ears wheren't shown since i wear the Hidjab). He asked me to wait until they call on me again. After a moment, an american man called on me and asked me to go to gate# 5 . He was so kind with me he was surprised that i speak english ( cuz all the ppl that were before me talked to him in french) so he asked me with a big smile to put my fingers of my both hands on the scaner to take my fingerprints and asked me to wait until they call on me . I waited for about an hour before my turn came for the interview, my goodness!! , ince i was sitting closed to the officiar consular gate, i could hear what she was asking the other beneficiaries who were before me. She didn't ask them a lot of questions ( only 5 to6 questions) but when it was my turn i saw her taking my passport and smiling then she left with it and went to somewhere then she came back to gate after about 30minutes. I was like what's going on ? my goodness i was so nervous, i was the last one and alone in the waiting room before the security officer came to me and told me not to worry and that i'd be approved. He wasnice with me and told me to be patient and not get nervous lol . Soo she finally came back , it was like 3 pm (15h) and called on me. She was so friendly, when i said to her "hello" she said " oh u speak english! thats good" so she started to talk in english. She asked me to swear that i'd tell only the truth and then started the interview. She asked me:

1/ How did we meet ( I showed her some emails and skype conversation that i've printer that shows how we started to talk to eachother)
2/ how was our mariage,
3/ when did we meet in person,
4/ what does he do for living,
5/ which kind of restaurant he works in,
6/ How long did he take to propose to you after you met,
7/ where does he live,
8/ when did he convert to Islam,
9/ who is this ( she told me th name of my dad in law) so i told her he's my dad in law,
10/ What kind of job does he have,
11/ which company does he work at,
12/ did you meet your spouse parents ( i answered this question by saying that in person no but we talk to eachother by phone and skype and send to eachother emails from time to time),
13/ how long does your spouse stayed with you after you got married.

I was so nervous in the begining but after i saw her kindness i felt so confortable in answering all the questions. I really really liked her she was so nice with me. So when she was done she said "OK, that's fine! You can have a seat and wait they will call on you !) so isaid thank you so much have a good evening, the she said oh thank you you too have a good evening .
After almost 5 minutes, a woman called on me to gate#3, she gave me her congrats. and gave me the receipt of my package (containing the tracking#) that will be sent to me and that i should wait for my passport and sealed envelopp within 15 days of the date of my issued visa status. I checked Sunday, 22nd June 2014 on my visa status and it was updated to " Issued" so i am still waiting for my passport to be mailed to me, thats' about it! so wish you all , all the best!!
