Embassy Review : |
I have always waited for my turn to write a review with regards to Interview result. So, here it goes.
We, me(IR1) and my kids (IR2) were scheduled this morning, July 2nd @ 6:15AM. We arrived at the embassy 10 minutes before 5AM and the line for Immigrants is already way long. The street vendors along the USEM bombarded us with questions like, do we have pictures already or we need a black pen and even offered to take our bags for them to watch since according to them big backpacks which my son is carrying is not allowed inside. They are pretty convincing I should say but then, it's not my first time to visit the embassy so I already know what to expect. Big bags are fine as long as it does not contain prohibited items and even if they do,the guards will take them out before you enter. Gadgets and mobile phones were not allowed as instructed on the appointment letter but the guards too will take them out and owners can claim it on their way out.
The gates open at exactly 6AM, to cater the applicants who has the schedule time of 6:15. However the long line outside the embassy were all accommodated and was allowed to enter before 8am. We were luckily among the first 25 persons and was able to finish steps1 (biometrics/finger scan) and step 2(preliminary interview/document presentation) before 7am.
The officers at the gates only ask for the FIRST PAGE OF THE APPOINTMENT LETTER and PASSPORT. We were given priority numbers and shipment information sheet that would be submitted back to the shipment officer(2GO personnel) after final interview. Immigrants and Non-Immigrant applicants were separated on different wings inside the Embassy. The staffs were efficient in giving instructions, reminders and assistance to everyone specially to the senior citizens and/or applicants with infants and little children.
Step 1 or Biometric/ Finger scanning were pretty easy and quick. This is conducted by an American Officer and numbers were called quick and randomly and by random I mean not following a number sequence. My kids were ages 10 and 8 and finger scan is not required. Followed shortly by Step2 which is the preliminary interview with a Filipino Officer. One can request for an interpreter if the applicant can't speak English or Tagalog and would prefer to be spoken by their native dialects. In this step comes most of the questions and would asked for documents or evidences of relationship if applicable.
I was asked to present my CEMAR/ CENOMAR and NBI clearance. I would like to emphasize that for applicants like me who were previously married to provide CEMAR from NSO where all marriages, previous(divorced/annulled/widowed) and current are reflected on the certification. The NBI clearance should not only indicate the maiden name and current husband's family name but also the name with the previous husband's family name on the AKA section of the NBI clearance. I was also asked for other pictures together with the petitioner other than the ones submitted to the USCIS/NVC during the filing of the application. The Filipino Officer also took our passports and informed me that they got all that they need and we are good for final interview. Since all of our papers and documents were complete, hence a smooth and fast preliminary interview. We were told to go back to our seats and wait for the final interview since the Consuls will start calling for numbers in queue at exactly 8AM.
We only waited for about 15minutes when our number flashed on the queue board. I approached the window assigned to us and took an oath indicating that the final interview has begun. The questions were basic ones and and were also asked repeatedly. The consul checked my finger scan a couple of times within the duration of this final interview, in fact, I've noticed he requested for me to scan my fingers every time a question is asked, even the basic ones like name and birthday. This step only took less than 10 minutes and he handed me the pamphlet about US law against human trafficking. He told me that my interview is good so far and to wait a little more in our seats for the final verification. He also wished me a nice flight ahead to the States.
The last step is verification and submission of the shipment info sheet to the courier staff of 2GO. The lady in this window reminded me to make sure that the mobile number written is active all the time and would have to wait for the text message from 2GO regarding the delivery of the visa then she said we can go home.
As we step out of the embassy I look at my watch and was surprised to see that it was only 9:05 in the morning. I can finally breathe for the long wait is almost over.
I wish everyone goodluck and have happy life. The sweet "reward" also known as the so called "VISA" is worth all the waiting, the anticipating, the sleepless nights, the time apart and the stress. Patience and Honesty is the name of the game! |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
