Event Description

Embassy Review : We decided that it would be best, so the Co's at the embassy to have no doubt about our seriousness, for me to attend Ayo's interview, knowing that I wouldn't be allowed in, but he would bring in with him, proof that I was directly outside waiting.
We planned the visit from the 17th til the 25th so to give enough time for him to receive the visa, but not so much as to waste time waiting for our trip back, or waste money that we are very short on.
It was soo very wonderful to hold my Fiance again, I had such a hard time holding my emotions in check in public. 1 year, 9 months and 6 days is Far far far to long to be apart from your love.
Ahem, back on subject...
we arranged transportation to the embassy with a cabby he knows personally who would take us there, and wait with us, so I had a secure place to wait, and we brought our brother Seyi with us also for security.
We left the house at 4am planning to beat any trafic, the last thing you want is to be late, but we were so early there was little trafic, so we arrived at 4:30, found the place, the guards there were nice, and directed us to "the tree", a very small park under a tree with some logs and cement curbs to sit on. very very uncomfortable place. we were the first ones there.
about 5am others strated trickling in, and we greeted each one, including one woman Ayo had met at his medical appointment. by 6am there were many people and couples and families waiting under the tree. We noticed that I was the only American fiance waiting there, and we hoped that made an impression on them.
we had taken many pictures the last couple days, and got them printed the evening before, so he had those, and my PP with him to prove that I was outside. We looked around to see if the ones taking instant PP photos were there, and I didn't see them. (they are in the parking lot a bit further down the street, you can get them to take an instant pic to prove your there outside) so we just dealt with the ones we had on us.

about 6:30am the guards called us all, and the waiting people all gathered into a undisiplined group up on the sidewalk where we were given instructions on the proceedure, and ushered through a couple security checkpoints and scanned for metalic objects and patted down like the TSA. they allowed me to accompany Ayo through them until the ones with the interviews lined up according to immigrant and non immigrant.
I was allowed to line up with Ayo for a short time, then asked politely to go wait for him in the parking lot or waiting area, so I gave him the last kiss and went to the parking lot where the cabby and Seyi were waiting, where i found the guys offering the instant pics, and I scolded myself for not finding them two hours ago.
I found the cabby and Seyi directly next to the gate leading back to the embassy, where i had a decient view through the gap in the big red fence of the road up so could see Ayo coming.
and we waited.....
Several minutes later, Ayo appeared, upset that he could not find the pics... they were in his E-ray folder...where he put them lol. another last kiss for good luck and off he went back.
and we waited..... and waited...... and waited. . . .and w a i t e d . . . .
this is Ayo's account of what happened after I left:

Ayo:

We were seperated, as in applicants for immigrant on one cue and non imigrants on another line, seperated by railings and under a tent in case of rain. So after some time in d line, I cross checked again and thought my PP photos and pics are with my wife! so I informed them, and ran to her and discovered they were in my pack. After returning (they let me back to my own spot in line) they asked us in batches to go in to another fenced, tented area, and I was scrutinized and was given a slip to fill and a number tag.
then we sat, and moved a bit, then sat again, til I got to a stage where we were scrutinized again, anfter witch we were ushered into the main building and was asked to hand over my doccuments.
later I was called and interviewed.
one will stand while being interviewed, which is very ok after sitting for many hours. I have rehearsed before all I know about my wife and her family and our relationship and cross checked with her to be sure all was correct, so I was very sure and calm when the lady asked, and I answered the questions perfectly.
these are the questions she asked:
how, where, and what year did my Fiancee and I meet? told them
why did my Fiancee divorce her ex? told them he was abusive to her
where does she live? gave them her full physical address
who petitioned for me? my Fiancee
what's d names of my kids and my Fiancee's boys too? told them all four full names
what's her profession? Union JW Electrician
can I prove we do communicate? I pointed out the large stack of texts, and phone records in her pile
and that was all. I was very happy and the lady was smiling, and I was thinking we had of course been approved, God is at our backs, nothing can delay us.
But it seams there are people at the embassy who look at the file and determine before we are even interviewed.
they gave me a paper that says to give them more evidence, and that they will send the file back to the NVC and once approved again, they will send back to the Embassy and we'll get another interview!
I was so down and disapointed. but need to be strong for my wife because I knew she would cry much about it.

After 5 hours sitting in the hot sun in the cab, (make sure you bring LOTS of water!)
I finally saw Ayo coming through the fence, and jumped up to meet him! he was smiling at me,... but something was very wrong with his smile. and I begged him to tell me and not keep me in suspense,
he said they neither approved nor denied.

and I broke...
and cried, and tried to read the letter,
we regret to inform you.... and I cried...
then finally got to the hope " file back to the NVC (NOT the USCIS) and IF re approved, will be returned to the embassy and another interview will be given, if not approved the case will be closed..... don't read that part.

later, once Ayo hugged me into calmness and I could arrange my mind into a straight forward direction....
I read the paper agiain:

Dear Visa Applicant:
This office regrets to inform you that it is unable to issue a visa to you because you have failed to convince the consular Officer that your relationship with the petitioner is Bona fide. Your case will remain pending under Section 221(g) of the immigration and Nationality Act while it is returned to the National Visa Center for their review. When their review is complete, they will contact the petitioner, who will then have the opportunity to respond. If the case is reaffirmed, we will contact you to set up a new apointment date. If the case is not reaffirmed, the petitioner will be notified and the National Visa Center will close the case.
Sincerely

American Consular Officer

then it struck me...
I don't think they have an issue with HIM, they have an issue with ME. I've been married before, and my last husband was a nigerian who I was forced to remove my support from. I did this willingly because I discovered that the mans intentions were not honorable and he did not marry me out of love. so as I am a patriotic woman, and he did not deserve to be in my country under false pretense.
So because of that failure, they are questioning wether I"M SURE I"M SURE that I know what I'm doing this time.
Also I think perhaps because they knew I was outside, showing our seriousness, is why we got this letter of HOPE NOT DENIAL. and our long weeks of fasting and Praying and vigil, for God to Stand by us, that they COULD NOT DENY US, they only delayed, WE WILL perservere!!!!!

AND OUR LOVE IS ABSOLUTELY CONFIDENT AND SURE AND SET IN GRANATE

so I have to understand their point of view, and I have just to re affirm that yes I do know what I'm doing, and Ayo and I should not be punished for another man's deception. So I will of course submit every ounce of eveidence in existance of the bona fides of our love and relationship, and they WILL approve, they have no choice GOD has our BACK. and I CAN NOT AND WILL NOT LIVE WITHOUT AYO. If they are particularly stubborn, and deny us eventually, then I will return to Nija and marry him proper and then file the I-130, and start again, We will never stop, because he is MINE and I am HIS. the only reason we decided on the K1 in the first p lace was for the benifit of the US GOV anyway, because they like to approve a man before I bring him here, but if they prove stubborn, then I will Marry him and let them deal with THAT, they will NOT deny us, I am fully prepared to expatriate if I am forced to, I'm just praying that it doesn't come to that.

for now, 1 step at a time....
contact the NVC and get their behinds in gear....

Iyawo Ayodele

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
