Consulate Review: Tokyo, Japan
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 17, 2014
Embassy Review : I got there around 7:40 for 8:30 appointment and there were a few people already waiting in front of the embassy.
After getting inside, they gave me a number and clar file to put all the documents in.
My number was called to hand in the documents in file. They went through the documents, returned some of the documents they didn't need, and asked if I have some documents they needed(and I did. phew..)
My number was called again to take finger prints.
They called my number again for the interview.
These are the questions the officer asked;
- How did you meet?
- When did you start dating?
- Were you dating whole time since then?
- Dis you have any other visa in the US?
- When did both of you move to Japan?
- Were you living Japan whole time since then?
- Do you have kids?
- What kind of job is petitioner looking in the US?
- Are you planning to work in the US?

The officer was more friendly than I expected.
Whole process took about 45min.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
