Comments : Communications with the US Embassy in Bangkok were terrible. After the interview, embassy staff were uncommunicative, rarely provided any helpful information on their own, and only provided important information when specifically asked.

My fiance was interviewed for 75 minutes on April 1st. She was given a 221(g) letter with instructions for submitting additional evidence of relationship. Additional documents were sent on April 9th. Repeated email inquiries to the embassy resulted in no reply and on two occasions the standard response that "your case is currently under consideration" and that "we cannot inform you how long it will take." I wrote letters to my district's congressional representative and both US senators complaining about embassy staff acting unprofessionally and treating ordinary Thai citizens disrespectfully during the interview process. Finally 3 1/2 months after my fiance's interview date, the embassy issued her a visa. They didn't even take the time to notify her that her passport with visa was mailed to general delivery at her hometown post office. We found out only when I asked when her passport would be returned.

Comments : We arrived at LAX and went to the CBP check point. My fiance was allowed to wait in the same line as me which was for US citizens and residents. The line was long and barely moved. After two hours in line, we proceeded to one of the immigration officers and handed him the sealed packet which he opened. Inside was a large stack of papers which appeared to be the entire visa application package. After a few short questions, photo and fingerprint scan, we were on our way. Very good other than the long wait in line.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
