Consulate Review: Ghana Review Topic: K1 Visa Event Description Review Date : February 26, 2014 Embassy Review : I got to the embassy on the 25th February at 6:40 am. It was quite a rainy day so I was praying they will let us in before the rains start pouring down again. Exactly 7:00am we were called to form a queue at the entrance. I was quite lucky to be part of the first 10 people to be in the front row so I entired quite early. I submitted my appointment letter at the desk and i was called by a Ghanaian lady at window 2 to submit all my docs. She was quite friendly, she returned the bank statements and tax transcripts to me. She asked me to go pay an amount of 624 Ghana Cedis to the Cashier which I did. Please those going there please make sure you have enough loose money so you can get the exact amount. They asked people who didnt have the exact amount to wait while they attended to those with it first. Then I was called to window 1 for my finger prints. The Ghanaian lady there was also nice but I could tell she was a strict one. They took fingerprints of both hsnds. After that I sat for a bit and was called to window 4. I guess I was the first person to be called. The CO was very friendly she took a finger print of my middle finger. God bless her pretty soul! She asked: 1. If I have ever travelled before 2.How we met? 3.Which School I was in then and if his brother was there too (follow up question from the answer I gave when she asked how we met) 5. When my fiance went to the states 6. How he adjusted his status 7. Where he works 8. What he does at work (then she said it must really be a good job after I explained to her and I told her yes he loves it, considering that's not what he studied in school) 9. Then she went through the rest of my docs came across the engagement ring receipt and asked if i had it on. I told her not yet since my fiance doesn't trust the post with that kind of thing. 10. She asked if we have had any formal ceremony yet (to which the answer was a no) She smiled and said congratulations everything looks okay. She gave me a a blue slip with my pick up date and time on it. She told me not to stop work or school till I have the visa in hand. I spent about 5 mins there I think can't really remember but by 8:35am I was done with everything. I managed to keep on a neutral face on as i exited the embassy and called my fiance. It was certainly a good day for us. God has been very good throughout this journey which went faster than we thought. We pray for each and everyone with genuine cases to get approval like we did.
