Embassy Review : |
We had our visa interview today this morning and we are APPROVED!
I am glad this process for the most part is finally over! smile.
My fiancé was so nervous and the immigration officer that was interviewing us was such a liar, telling us he doesn't know how to speak Korean. We didn't have the option for my fiancé to do his interview in Korean. He was hoping the interview would be conducted in Korean and would feel more comfortable, since of course English is not my fiancé's first language. And there was another man watching us behind the immigration officer who was conducting the interview. I wanted to call him out on lying to us that he didn't know Korean because he was the ONLY officer interviewing all the visa applicants (because the US Embassy in Seoul is not so busy), not just fiancé visas but interviewing for other visas where some applicants didn't know any English at all.
But all that aside, he asked like irrelevant questions from the normal interview, asking me if I had met my fiancé's family etc. I had to chime in and answer some questions and was being asked questions. I thought I would be watching from the sidelines and Mr. Choi would be answering. I don't know if they were treating us differently because we were a same sex case and they didn't believe our case ... but through that ordeal Mr. Choi's fiancé visa has be approve.
I asked the immigration officer that was interviewing us if we were the first same sex K-1 visa approved and surprisingly he said we were not the first one. Makes me happy that their are others who are paving the wave for us.
SO HAPPY!
Bring something to read or do because the process is around 2 hours. Best of luck to all!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
