Consulate Review: Islamabad, Pakistan
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 5, 2013
Embassy Review : I am writing this review to give some hope to all applying for their spouse in Pakistan. in the midst of the darkness of " AP" there is still hope.
a little background on our immigrant visa case ... we got married in july 2012 I am the petitioner us citizen beneficiary my husband never travelled out of pk .. I came back to states in October 2012 and shortly after that I found out about my pregnancy, got caught up for a month or two and sent i130 in January 2013 along with application I sent a note from my doctor and a letter to request expedite the process I am not sure if that helped in any way but my i130 approval NOA2 came in end of april ( 3 months after NOA 1)
my case started in NVC in may and after standard procedures I sent an expedite request to us consulate isb in first week of may (my baby was due in end june)
but my request was denied, I wasn't heartbroken or anything it was mere a try that didn't work. I was in NVC process from may to august partly because of my baby's arrival in june and partly because NVC took long to review documents. but we got through it and received an interview letter on august 27th, as NVC customer reps informed me the Islamabad embassy was all booked up for September the earliest interview date they could provide me was October 1st. I kept my patience and had faith in Allah and loads and loads of prayers got us to desired outcome Alhumdulilah! javascript:emoticon('')

I had read lots of visa journey reviews and was mentally prepared to have my husband put on AP for a few months at least. but people please don't loose hope. keep faith and know that light is just around the corner inshaAllah.

THE INTERVIEW STORY:
My husband went in for his scheduled interview 8am at Islamabad embassy on 1st of October. he got at the shuttle around 7:30am got to the embassy around 8am he said it was very crowded as he got there but things went pretty smooth and on time. so the security guard checked him in. by the way he already had his documents and pictures filed in separate envelopes and carried them in one big folder no bags were carried as I had advised him after reading several visa journey reviews. thanks to all helpful review posts. so all the standard procedures were done as explained in details in other reviews. Co who conducted the interview was young white American gentleman. he didn't ask any complicated questions, just a few things about me (petitioner) and asked my husband about our baby, how old and his name. he looked at the wedding pictures and asked my husband to show pictures with my parents and his parents. my husband tells me that all through the interview the CO switched his attention between entreing data in the computer and observing him. co asked for my husbands business card if he has any? my husband handed him a business card he matched the phone numbers on the card with the application. and finally!!! the magical words came out of his mouth... CONGRATULATIONS!! your case has been approved you will receive your visa in next few days.
I checked the visa status at
https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?
while my husband was still in the interview. it was updated before my husband stepped out of the embassy. I was very impressed.
and he received a call from AMEX Islamabad after 3 days of interview to come pick up his passport/visa.
Alhumdulilah Alhumdulilah Alhumdulilah!!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
