Consulate Review: Manila, Philippines
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 11, 2013
Embassy Review : I arrived at USEM 4:30am and fall in line together with other K1 applicants. I rented a chair for 30Php because I was wearing high-heeled shoes. We were called to enter at around 6:30am so I think its ok not to be to early anyway its not a first come-first serve basis.. At the tent, before entering, I was asked to present the appointment confirmation page, DS160, and my passport.

Then my passport was placed in a ziplock bag and i was given a queue number. Do not lose the queue number because from start to the last step, this will guide you when its your turn and what window to go.

As I entered, things were checked so make sure not to bring things which are not allowed – gadgets, food, &drinks. On the first window I went, the appointment confirmation page was again asked then I was just instructed to go to drop it at window __ (i forgot! Hehe) but when I entered the facility, a staff just ask for my the appointment confirmation page and DS160.. so instead of dropping it, I just gave it to her as instructed and sit while waiting for my number to be flashed on the monitor.

First call – Biometrics/finger printing.... I was just asked to show my number then asked my name and birthday. Then I was asked to place 4 fingers of my left hand then right hand and lastly, both thumbs on the scanner.

Second call – Filipina Consul... She was so nice. She even told me “Ang ganda naman ng iinterviewin ko” and constantly say “Ang ganda mo talaga..” The other Filipino consul who was about to interview another applicant even tried to take a look at me.. hahaha.. So I was really so at ease talking with her...  She asked for my passport and confirmed my personal data as she checked it with what is on their file on the computer. She also asked the usual questions like who is my petitioner, how did we meet, how many times we met and when... She then asked for the affidavit of support, my fiance’s ITR, and W2s. She also asked if she can see some of our pictures... Then she asked me to sit again and wait for my number to be flashed on the monitor again.

Third call – American Consul (Final Interview)... I was so lucky to be interviewed again by such a nice lady. She was always smiling. After I take the oath, she asked so many questions but I didn’t bother because she was so nice... Here are the questions I can still remember:
*My name & birthday
*My fiance’s name & birthday
*Am I married? Do I have a kid?
*Is my fiancé married? Does he have a kid?
*How did we meet?
*When did we meet in person?
*How many times he visited?
*Who are in my fiance’s ITR as dependents?
*How many kids do we want?

Then she said “I think we got everything here..” Then she asked me to wait again for me to be called... After just a couple of minutes (i think just about 3minutes), my number flashed on the monitor. This is the last step where you will find out if you will be asked to submit more documents (what they call 221g) or if you will just have to wait for your passport with visa to be delivered or for pick up. Thank God! I was told to just wait for my visa if its ready for pick up!

THE INTERVIEW WAS SUCH A GREAT EXPERIENCE! You’ll freeze to death (not literally of course!) but after all, you’ll feel very accomplished! I even felt overwhelmed until now! Hahaha... God is so good!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
