US Entry : 2013-10-10
Comments : After NOA1, USCIS incorrectly assumed Rita was in the USA and requesting change of status. They transferred our case to USCIS Mt. Laurel and were waiting months for us to submit documents. It took months to straighten out, hence the delay from USCIS to NVC.

NVC had difficulties. Original documents required for Moscow processing at NVC caused even more delays obtaining and mailing to USA prior to DS-230 filing. Later, while we were in the 30-business-day review period, on September 1st, NVC changed from DS-230 to DS-260 forcing us to restart and waste almost 2 months. We filed an expedite through our attorney that was accepted a week later due to the processing mishaps at both USCIS and NVC.

Port of Entry Review
Event Date
Port of Entry : JFK
POE Date : 2013-10-10
Got EAD Stamp :
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : POE could not have been easier. It actually took longer to receive luggage than to complete the CR-1 process. Upon arrival, they noticed my envelope before I even arrived in the Citizen/Resident line and ushered me into a separate room. One fingerprint was taken and they took my packet, and sent me on my way.

Service Center : Lewisville TX Lockbox
CIS Office : Mount Laurel NJ
Date Filed : 2016-10-19
NOA Date : 2016-10-24
Bio. Appt. : 2016-11-15
Interview Date : 2017-05-18
Approved : Yes
Oath Ceremony : 2017-05-18
Comments : Same-day interview and oath at the Mt. Laurel office. Interview in the morning and oath in late afternoon. The interview officer was cold and rude, but approval went fine. The oath ceremony was actually very nice and the officer leading the proceedings was awesome and passionate about his job. He paid deep respect to our countries of origin and was genuinely happy to have us become citizens.

Embassy Review : The interview was a rather long and confusing process. The Embassy had me bouncing from window to window over several sections of the building. Overall a very confusing process. After getting my paperwork in order and having my finger prints taken, I had to wait for over four hours for my interview. The interviews are not conducted in a private room, so I could listen in on everyone else's interviews. When it was my turn, the embassy worker was very nice and I did not have any issues with the process. The interview itself was mostly standard questions and was less than fifteen minutes in my case (I suppose they had decided pre-interview and were just being formal). I was notified that I was approved and could expect my passport back in 3-5 days (it took 4).
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
