Our interview date was March 7th at 11 am. We arrived at 9 am and the Vietnamese staff escorted us inside. You have to go through securities and then you can come in to take your number. There are four steps total, biometrics was taken and then we waited to submit our paperwork. Unfortunately, when we came to submit our paperwork, my fiancee forgot her police report 2. Then we waited for her interview. During the time that she got her biometric taken, submit paperwork ... I was able to be there . Then when she had her interview, I bought her paperwork up. This seem to help and the consulate was very happy of this. I stated that I am the petitioner and she was happy to find out that I came back to accompany my fiancee. She ask when did I arrive in Ho Chi Minh City and when I was living. I stated that I only bought one way ticket back to Ho Chi Minh City and will buy two one way tickets back with my fiancee. There she ask my fiancee to say what my name is. Then she told me to take a seat and ask my fiancee alone (there was a translator there).
Questions ask were:
1) what is your fiancee name?
2) what is my current studies? And where is my school located?
3) when did your fiancee come to the United States?
4) what do I do for a living?
That is all I remember for now. The decision seems to be decided before but because my fiancee forgot her police report 2 at home (5 mins from the consulate). We were given blue slip asking for the police report 2 (the original copy). Fortunately, we ask if we could bring the required form this afternoon and they say yes (to come at 1 pm the same day). So we drove back home and got the required paperwork and came back. We submitted the paperwork and were given pink slip. They told us that our visa will arrive in about 2 weeks (hopefully it will take less).
We drove back being very happy but my fiancee got a phone call from the consulate requesting that we came back. They say our paperwork is fine but they have a few questions to ask us. We were very scared of what possibly they want to ask from us and worry about our visa. So we came back, go through the security again and ask to see the consulate. So we waited at booth 6 again and the immigrant visa chief came out to congrats us!!!! She stated that we are the FIRST same sex visa approval in Vietnam history!!! She asks if we are willing to share our stories! She escorted us out and say that our visa will be available in 10 days.
We will track and wait for the arrival of our visa! I am so glad that our wait is almost over (5 years of waiting for this changes to happen!) she will be coming to the US with me at the end of this month! |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
