So, my fiance had his interview today. Overall, it went very well.
There was a guy at a window who asked him for a form. My fiance wasn't sure which form he was asking for. So, he was fumbling through the papers and the guy said are you nervous sir? lol He told him "Don't be nervous at all."
I thought the encouragement was great after all the horror stories.
Then, once finished there, he said he had to sit outside without several other people for a few hours.
Once they called his name, an older caucasion man took him into the interview room and began asking questions.Such as,
Where did we meet?
Did I come to Dominica?
How long was I in DOminica?
Tell me something about your US fiance....
Have you ever used Drugs/Chemical Substances.....
Do you or your fiance have any children?
I will add this.....when they asked my fiance How long I came to Dominica for? He told them "one week". The interviewer proceeded to say, "So you fell in love in one week?". My fiance told him "No sir, we have talked everyday for over 4 years now, either online, on the phone, we have come to learn everything about each other. The one week we spent together only confirmed that I love her as much as I thought."
Then, the one that got me.....When they asked him if he used any drugs or chemical substances, he told them No. The guy said "how can you be from Dominica and you never used drugs?" Really? I was kind of surprised that he would say something like that. So, then he saw that my fiance's father was a police officer and says "oh ok so now I understand why you never used drugs". I guess they suspect everyone from Dominica to use drugs?
Anyway, Overall my fiance was super happy since we got approved and I think overall everyone in the embassy was very friendly and helpful. I am so thankful for that. A smiling face and positive attitude makes people in nervous situations so much more at ease! Good luck to everyone else on their journeys! |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
