The immigration official was pretty friendly. He asked the standard questions: how long did you stay on your last visit; what are you doing in the US; how long are you planning to stay, etc. I had to show him a copy of my approved loa from my office and chatted him up for about 3 minutes and I was off. Easiest port of entry in the US in my experience. Detroit--that was the worst. |

Embassy Review : |
I had my AOS interview scheduled on 3/12/2013 at 10:00 a.m. The location was 15 minutes away from our house in Littleton. Prior to the interview schedule, I drove past CIS office on my way to the RNJ climbing gym just to do some recon on where the place was. Parking was not a problem because there was a huge parking lot in front of the building.
We made sure to leave the house 1 hour ahead of my appointment schedule. We got there at 9:20, got into the building and showed the guards at the info desk our appointment letter and IDs. There was a line (of about 6 people) ahead of us for the security screening. They made us take off our shoes, watches, belts and everything out of our pockets, was scanned and told to head to the second floor right after. Right out of the elevator in the 2nd floor was the holding room. We handed our appointment letter again to the guard and was told to have a seat. We were called close to 10:30. We watched others that were either ahead or had arrived after us get called and leave 15 minutes after. It bothered us a little that we were getting passed up by others that arrived later than us but we just sat there quietly until one of the doors opened with the IO calling our name.
We entered the door and was ushered through a corridor into the IO's office. He was pleasant and cordial. We were administered the oath and were then questioned thoroughly about each question on our forms. I was questioned about the "polygamy" item twice which caused my husband to chuckle a few times but other than that the interview went well. After he questioned us individually he noted that a box on my medical exam document was not ticked properly and instructed us to get that item checked by the doctor that examined me. We took care of that within 30 minutes from leaving the CIS office and was back with the sealed medical transcripts and within the next hour we got a text that our application was approved and that the GC was ordered produced.
It was an easy process overall and everyone at the CIS were helpful, patient and cordial. I am pleased with the professionalism of our IO, although I would have preferred a woman IO because she would have been excited and enthused in asking about our love story more. Other than that the experience was a pretty pleasant one. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
