Can't believe it took 3 weeks to get my visa back! The delay was caused by the consulate because as soon as it was issued it took 2 days to get to my loomis pickup location. Don't trust the loomis tracking! It never updated for me so I decided to take a chance and went to the location and it was ready for pickup! |

My fiance visa was approved yesterday!
Everything went very smoothly, thanks to all the information I had gathered from Visa Journey. I was outside the consulate at 6:45 and third in line. There was a lot less people than i expected, and only 4 of us went in at 7:30ish when they opened the doors and let us through security. Make sure you don't have any bags or anything. I went it with only a binder and folder with all my documents. Also had pack of tissues, cash, chapstick and ID card and that was fine.
They asked for your passport and loomis registration confirmation. (I also has my appointment confirmation on hand just in case but they didn't ask for it that time)
We then waited by the elevator until about 8:00. Once upstairs we waited in line a bit until a lady at one of the windows each gave us a ticket. Got C3. Went and sat down and almost immediately C1, C3 and C4 got called up to windows 1, 3 and 4 respectively. Which seemed unfair to the person ahead of me (C2). But at least as long as your in the first few people there you should get called right away.
The lady at window 3 was very nice. She asked for my documents one at a time; passport, 2 passport style pictures, letter of intent to marry, medical results, birth certificate (original and copy, make sure you have a copy because they keep that!), police records, and the evidence of support (i-134). She didn't ask for my fiance's proof of domicile in the US, but did ask me for his address and phone number, which thankfully I knew by heart. She took my digital prints and eventually told me to go back and sit down and that C3 would be called again soon. The whole process with this lady took about 15 minutes.
Hardly 3 minutes later I got called to another window in the hallway, which was a bit like a cubicle so more private. There the man swore me in my making me read a statement and took my prints to verify i was the same person. We then went over my file together, which was basically just him flipping through everything as I watched. Overall it was pretty general, he didn't ask me any specific questions about anything. After that he asked me how we met, so I told him my story, then we kind of went over the timeline of my relationship, he asked where we would get married. I said we were going to get married at the courthouse since we only had 3 months to do it and that afterwards we would start planning our wedding properly. He seemed satisfied with this answer, clicked a few things on his computer and printed something out, handed it to me and said he had approved my visa. Turned out what he had printed was "Welcome to the United States" letter. He explained they were keeping my passport and that I would be notified when it was ready to pick up. And that was it! I was almost disappointed he didn't want to see my latest pictures I'd brought :P
I was pretty in shock, and so happy. It really helps to come prepared and I think they appreciate it too. I had tons of documents they didn't ask for (copy of i-156 etc) but I think it's better to have those things because who knows.
I was out of there by 8:45!!! Even the security guard when leaving the building was surprised at how quick it went lol
Overall, all the content on Visa Journey was extremely helpful and made me feel really prepared when going in to the interview!
