Embassy Review : My husband and I had our appointment at 8am this morning.

After having heard that we should allow plenty of time to get there, we decided to leave Wimbledon around 6:10 and got to the embassy at about 6:50. We were first in line.
At about 7:05, I decided to go to Goulds Pharmacy to drop off anything that could be a problem. The pharmacy was not yet open but seeing two of us were waiting, they opened just before 7:15.

Back to the line, and my husband was now 5th in line. Thanks to the fact that an officer came and told the people to get in line in front of her. People basically ran in front of Kevin... NICE! One tip: limit the amount of things you bring, because you have to put everything in a plastic bag, rings, necklaces, keys, wallets etc.

They started letting people in at 7:30 and we were sitting down with number I-903 by 7:45. Things started getting going at around 8am and the first people were called. Those were mostly N visas (non-immigrant).

We got called to a first window at around 8:10, and met a very nice British (of Indian descent it seems) guy. He was very nice and very sweet. He asked for photocopies and originals of birth certificate, police certificate, affidavit of support + supporting evidence, and two photos. Before we did that, I went to pay the fee while Kevin was speaking to the guy. He was very nice and tried to relax Kevin a little bit.

Our affidavit of support was a bit different, because we did it on assets only (no income), didn't have a co-sponsor and I hadn't filed taxes in the US ever (since I was student and dependant of my father). TIP: the people can't guess what your situation is so please be as explicit as possible. I provided a letter explaining why taxes weren't filed for the last 3 years. As for assets, he looked at the amount on the affidavit and said "Do you have any proof of this number?". I said "yes of course" and started giving him bank statements ( and xe.com conversion rates) for each account. For the french ones, I had printed a screen shot with my names and accounts in English. Halfway through the evidence, he said "okay you have enough, we don't need any thing more". And he told us to go sit down (by 8:35).

About 40 long minutes later, we were called to the second window and greeted by this very nice African American lady everyone has been talking about. She was extremely sweet and very funny and smiled constantly. A real jewel!

She said that my letter with the affidavit of support was fantastic and that I should spread the words, she gave me the thumbs up. She took Kevin's finger prints and made him promise the information was correct to the best of his knowledge. Then she excused herself from the fact that they were going to talk about me, in front of me without me participating. To which I gave her a huge smile and said "chat away!".
She asked "When and how did you two meet?".

Since Kevin knew what was coming, he gave a whole relationship story for the past 3 years. How we met, what happened after that and where we are now.

Second question "When did you start talking about marriage". He said " a year ago".

Third "Have you met her family" and he chatted away explaining he met my parents first then more of my family on my brother's wedding.

After that she just wanted to clarify the dates on the computer and said, with a huge smile, that we were approved! I was so relieved and tired that I barely reacted, just smiled and thanked her a hundred times!

Overall a very nice experience, the people were very organised and they did their best to manage a huge crowd. They didn't ask for anything unexpected and will not try to trick you on your interview. They will process everything as expected and will just ask a few questions in a very nice and comfortable manner.

You should try to get there early. The line builds up quite quickly. And as mentioned, clear up any particularities in your application with them, they can't guess and it will really help them very much.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
