Comments : Our case was completed Sept. 9, 2014 and we got an interview appointment for October 23rd. However, due to unforeseen circumstances and change of plans, we passed on that interview and did not reschedule again until August 2015. At the interview we realized we needed a new police certificate, so although everything went fine and we were told the visa would be approved, we got a white 221g for an original police certificate. We had to wait a few months before sending the passport back because my husband needed it for study/ work purposes. Once we were ready we sent the certificate and passport with next day delivery and tracking number. Items were mailed Dec. 21st. Our CEAC status was updated on Dec 23rd and on Dec 24 it was updated again to the long awaited ISSUED!! Couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present. Tracking number received Dec. 30th. Dec 31st visa visa in hand. Happy New Year!!! POE at Toronto Pearson Airport on January 5th. The visajourney is finally over, now time for our journey to begin...

Comments : My husband went through his POE at Pearson on Tuesday, January 5th 2016. The only inconvenient was that the line was extremely long, so the whole process from waiting in line, being taken to the secondary room and getting the stamp took around 1.5+hr. Other than the long wait time, he had no inconveniences with the entry and was not asked any questions by the agent. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to go through the process so you make your flight in time!

Embassy Review : This is our experience for my husband's interview yesterday morning (August 26th).

His appointment was at 7:40am. We got to the consulate at 7:15am and there was a line of about 15 people at that time. At around 7:50am the guard came out to set the line and two ladies came with the list for the appointments. They called everyone with 7:40am appointments to line up on the right side. Once we made it to them, they looked at the appointment letter, marks him off the list and handed him the ticket. We got #2!! He asked if I could come in and after asking if I was a US Citizen and me responding that I was the spouse, she said yes. The ladies were very nice.

We only had with us a plastic envelope with the paperwork so security was a breeze. We sat and waited for the an officer to come back at 8am and allow access to the elevator (which was blocked). While we waited, we got out the documents listed on the ticket with the number: passport, passport photos, medical, appointment letter (I think that was it). Up to the 19th floor and as everyone reports, if you have a number for immigrant visa, you sit on the middle section chairs and wait to be called by your number to either window 1 or 2 (all the way to the left). Once there they asked for all the documents (one by one). They also confirmed address, emails and phone numbers to make sure everything was in order. We had to update my address, but that was not an issue. The CO was very nice. My husband was handed the domestic violence paperwork and was told to wait for his number to be called again. 10-20mins later, he was called for his interview. I was asked to wait on the seating area while he had his interview. It took about 5mins and he was done!

Everything went great! All were basic questions and no supporting evidence was requested. Due to a mishap, we were missing the police certificate and knew we would have to wait and send it once we receive it. He was handed the 221G requesting the certificate (we knew this was going to happen), but the CO told him it would be approved once they receive the police certificate. They were going to keep his passport, but we need it so we will send it along with the police clearance.

The whole process took us 2 hours. We left our hotel room (we stayed at the Sheraton) at 7am and we were back at 9am after stopping for coffee on the way.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
