Received potential interview waiver in September 2014. Then in June 2015 we received a notice for interview 2 weeks later. Went to interview, checked in then waited to be called. I was a young African American man. He called our number but only took our appointment notice. He came back 10 mins later and called us in then told me to sit and took my wife in. 15 mins later he brought her back and called me in. Asked me questions about myself and how my wife came to the US and how she got from the airport. He called her back in and told her that she should lock down her Facebook profile. And not to say she is a citizen and not to say she is a resident until her green card is approved. Then he said she should get green card in 3 weeks. He also told her that he separated us because he wanted to talk to her alone to find out why she marry me when I was so much older than her. Said that was his only concern because he reviewed the file and everything looked good and he never intended to ask her much question. He walked us to the exit and said he will complete the review the next day. The website status never changed until the 22nd when they mailed the card. The approval letter from the local office on 06/19. The official approval and welcome letter came on 06/22. Website status changed on 06/22 saying card was picked up by USPS for delivery on 06/24. Card came on 06/23. By the way we had just mailed in our renewal for EAD days before we received the interview notice. So happy we did not have to pay again for that. |

Fiancée had 9:30 appointment on November 15, got there at 8:30. Greeter outside checked DS-156, 156k,passport appointment letters and passport size pictures. She also asked us where was the DS157 form and I had to explain to her that it was not required for female applicants. She did not believe me but after my insisting that it was not. Required she let my fiancée inside. I had to wait outside. She went through the usual security screening, went to a window where they collected DS 156/156k, I-134 package, police certificate, nonimpediment cert, birth cert. passport pics. Did her finger printing got her number and took a seat after her passport was checked and returned and she paid her fee $240 US. I GAVE HER US$. Because the local rate keeps changing. They also wanted two more passport size pictures because she only took two, but they just made a photo copy of what she had and used that. At 12:30 she emerged from behind the steel door and gave me the thumbs up. Her interview lasted about 4 minutes. It was a nice middle aged lady, she said she the officer smiled all the time and my fiancée felt comfortable. The following questions were asked:
HOW DID YOU MEET YOUR FIANCÉ
HOW WELL DID HE KNOW THE PERSON WHO INTRODUCED YOU
WHY DO YOU LOVE HIM SO MUCH
WHERE ARE YOU LIVING NOW (she had moved from where she was living to stay with my mom)
WHY DID YOU MOVE.
then she said. " your documents look very good, everything looks fine and the relationship looks legitimate, everything is ok. Then my fiancée offered to show her the pictures of us, she said sure let me see. She looked at them smiled and return them. She did not look at any of the other documents I had prepared. She apparently made her decision from the documents I sent with my I-129F.
She then took my fiancee's passport and said you will get your passport back in two weeks and don't buy your ticket until you receive your passport back.
I had sent copies of my previous divorce with my application and they accepted that. I gave my fiancée the originals and they did not even look at it. The they told her that they already had copies.
They did not ask for any evidence. I had stacks of western union receipts, Skype chats(300) pages, airline boarding pass. And 30 photos, they looked at none of it. It was after she was approved my fiancée offer to show pictures.
Advice to those applying, front load your application with copies of evidence. The decision is made before you sit down to be interviewed.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
