The customs officer opened my yellow envelope, flicked through it and asked a few questions, took my fingerprints, and said Welcome to the U.S., have a nice day!! Was all of about 10 minutes... & we'd allowed 5 hours before our next flight! |

I went to Sioux Falls SD for my biometrics appt but my interview is scheduled at a Minneapolis MN office address.
I arrived before the 15 minutes preceeding my appt time so they said to come back after the 15 min window. So just went for a walk then came back.... I went through security, then checked in at another desk with my appt letter. The lady gave me a ticket number and I waited until I was called. 10mins maybe.... another lady just in plain clothes (no special uniform) took me down to a small office where she sat behind a desk and we rolled through the interview. As I got the first 6 answers right she stopped there. Then we went over my application and she asked a few Yes/No questions. Then she congratulated me on passing and then gave me more detail on the ceremony procedure and said she had my notice going into the mail. I was done in about 30mins. :))
FEB 26 - OATH CEREMONY
Appt was 9:20am, arrived around 9:10, went through security (where they took my deodorant) checked in at the desk and they took my temperature (#covid) then over to another desk where they check over your paperwork and then send you over to another room where you pick up a package and get placed on an X on the floor. (All 6ft apart) There was about 8 of us in the room, a USCIS officer came and made an announcement and the judge joined via Zoom. He told us it was a very shortened ceremony because of the virus situation, so we took the oath, then he read off a few quotes and was done. We then were called one by one to the exit desk to pick up our certificates which we had to make sure all the info was correct, then we left the suite. No photos, no removing masks at any point. |

WOW, it was a breeze!!
I had an 8am appointment, got there at 7:50 & waited at Level 10 for the office to open. Once i went in, I showed my re-scheduled appointment letter (was scheduled for Tuesday 24th but changed to Friday 20th) & passport, went through the security screening and left my belongings at Level 10. A guard showed me to the lift and I whizzed up to Level 59, with my wallet and a few papers they asked me to bring. Out of the lift and I presented my passport again, where the lady checked me off the list and unlocked the door into the interview area. I took a ticket and sat down. 2 minutes and I was called to a window to present my passport, my interview payment receipt, passport photo, Express Post envelope and my confirmation page. I was given my original documents back that I submitted with Packet 3, then I took a seat... the room was filling with nervous persons. I waited only 10 minutes and was called up again where a stern gentleman asked me a few questions. In no time at all he pulls a little piece of paper from a basket & writes my name on there - it said CONGRATULATIONS, your visa application has been approved. I couldn't believe it happened so quick... I asked him was that all? He just looked at me with a tiny smirk on his face and said Yes!
And that was that, I walked outta there grinning from ear to ear, back down to Level 10 to collect my belongings and danced out the door by about 8:35am!!
WOOOO HOOOOO!! |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
