Smooth quick and stress-free.
My interview was on the 21st of May and I arrived at the consulate at 9am for my 9.30am interview, I handed my bag in to the security guard who put it through the scanner and then put it inside a locker after which he handed me a yellow card with the locker number on it.
I went inside after being told to go to window 5 and a lady there took my fingerprints and went over my documents, she looked at my documents and said I had everything correct and nothing was missing and to sit down outside after paying at window 4.
I paid and then sat down and I waited for about 20mins- 30 mins and I got called up to Window 2 for my interview, the guy at the window said hi and asked me a couple of questions
What is your fiance's name?
How did you meet?
What is his job?
What's your job?
And then it was all over, he got me to sign the bottom of a form i handed in previously and he told me I was approved and that they would send me the passport back in 2-3 days.
I was so surprised, it was so quick, and anti-climatic like everyone says. The funny thing was I almost left with the passport tucked between my forms until he called out to me and said that they need my passport to give me the visa. *laugh out loud*
I finally got my visa today and I'm so excited to go see my fiance <3
Auckland Consulate makes the process painless and easy! Thanks! |

Tips for travellers to SFO as POE,
DO NOT TRAVEL ON SATURDAY AFTERNOONS.
The amount of visitors lining up at the immigration offices were so bad that the line came all the way down to the gate that I left my plane on!!
About 300 people roughly in front of me, a never ending line and piles of people lining up behind me, took me 2 hours to get from the back of the line to the front of the line.
Other then that, a very pleasant experience the officer was very nice and the only questions asked to me was.
What visa are you here on?
Is this your right address? (this was my fault as i had forgotten to change the address)
And then he pointed me out on my way nicely (:

Very pleasant experience overall.
There was a long line outside to get into the building and I was worried about being on time but it turned out most of the people were waiting to be seen by ICE.
After entering the building I went to the second floor and had to wait to check in for the interview. After being checked in I was told to wait in the hallway and someone would come get me.
After a little bit of waiting someone came to direct me to another room where the virtual interview would be held.
The officer began the interview with the civics test as she thought that might make me less nervous (I agree). The questions I remember being asked was
-how do you participate in democracy
- what’s MLK known for
- what is the law of the land
- who was the first president
Then moved onto the reading and writing test.
Once the interview began they began by asking a few questions about my current address, current job, last travel etc. asked about whether I was part of any organizations and whether I knew what taking the pledge of allegiance meant.
The officer then told me that I was being recommended for approval and told me I should be receiving a oath ceremony date in the mail.
Status on USCIS changed to oath ceremony will be scheduled as I was leaving the building.
Checked USCIS the next day and saw that the oath ceremony was scheduled and the notice is en route to my house
Finally happy to be done and had a very pleasant experience for the final leg of this long journey!! |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
