Event Description

Embassy Review : My interview was at the US embassy in Bern on wednesday October 9.
I was told to come at 10.30 am to hand in my documents and to have my fingerprints taken.
The actual interview was to be in the afternoon.
The lady who took my documents was friendly and she put me at ease. She asked me if I wanted to pick up my visa or have it mailed. I showed her the envelope and the stamps I'd prepared but she said the envelope was too small but that she would gladly take the stamps and use one of their envelopes. I thought that was really nice!
She then asked me to go back to the waiting room until I heard my name called. I realized I was going to have my interview much earlier than planned, which wasn't a bad thing. There were a lot of people waiting, about 30 all in all, but I only waited about 5 minutes until I was called. Everybody turned to look at me in a "how dare she jump the queue" manner.
The lady who interviewed me wasn't friendly, she looked jaded, dead behind the eyes. I felt nervous. She asked me to swear that everything I say is the truth, then asked how I met my fiancé and how we sustain our long distance relationship. She didn't ask for any proof of ongoing relationship, to my disappointment as I had loads of pictures and letters. Anyway, after 5 minutes she said "congratulations, we'll send you your visa in the next 2 days".
It was a sterile atmosphere but it was pretty smooth all in all, so I can't complain.
I received my visa on Monday October 14.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
