INTERVIEW: Monday, 02/26/2018,1:00 pm.
Arrived @ 12:30pm. At 12:45 pm -Turned in appt letter window #1. At 1:10 pm - Greeted by interviewer in waiting area who escorted me back to her office. Interview began by her swearing me in. Next she asked me for my appointment letter, green card, driver's license, and passport. She then went through my N-400 in detail with me. This only took about 5-minutes. I stopped her at two points during the N-400 review, giving her an update on the trip portion as I had taken a trip outside the U.S. after submitting my N-400 application. Also had an update on the employment portion as I had changed jobs. After the N-400 review she moved to the Civics portion. I answered the first 6-questions correctly. She then asked me to read a question out loud and she then dictated the answer to that question asking me to write the answer down on a sheet of paper. She then told me that I had passed the interview and I had been approved. She handed the approval notice to me and asked me if I would be able to attend an oath ceremony on Friday of that same week. Of course I said yes and I left with my oath ceremony letter as well. A side note..Surprisingly my interviewer did not ask me for any additional/supporting documents even though I brought a lot. Maybe it was because I sent so much in with my N-400 application (applied under 3-year rule). Better safe than sorry I guess.
OATH CEREMONY: Friday, 03/02/2018, 10:00 am.
Arrived New Orleans Field Office @ 9:00 am. Processed through the line, handing over my green card, looking over my Naturalization Certificate to ensure all information was correct, and signing the certificate. I was handed a package and directed to my assigned seat. We then waited as others processed in and took their seats. We were presented our certificates after we were sworn in as US citizens. Ceremony lasted about 35 minutes. There were 48 people sworn in from 23 different countries. A very small ceremony in comparison to most I have read about but still very special nonetheless. During the ceremony guests were allowed to flank the stage several different times to take photos and videos. Afterwards there was time for picture taking. Although it wasn't a big room there were enough seats that day for all the guests. I would estimate around 100 guests were in attendance. I had three guests with me to include my husband. Very proud to be a US citizen.
US PASSPORT - Monday, 5 Mar 2018.
Applied for passport @ local post office.
Paid Expedited fee (my choice).
Saturday, 17 Mar 2018 - Rcvd passport via priority mail.
Monday, 19 Mar 2018 - Rcvd my original Naturalization Certificate back from passport folks via priority mail. (You must submit original with your passport applicaton).
SOCIAL SECURITY: Monday, 19 Mar 2018.
Visited local SS office to update my social security information and get a new card ordered. Did not have to fill out any paperwork for this. Took my Naturalization cerficate. The agent did not ask for any copies. He swore me in, then asked me 4 or 5 questions verifying my personal information, i.e. current address, mother's maiden name, father's name, my phone number, my place of birth, my birthdate. He updated information from my naturalization certificate into his computer. He then handed me a letter telling me I should receive my updated social security card within 2-weeks and told me to call the number on the letter if I did not receive within that time frame.
Total time @ SS office - 45 minutes.
DRIVER'S LICENSE: Tuesday, 20 Mar 2018.
Visited local DMV to get a new driver's license. Showed my US passport. That didn't seem to satisfy the lady behind the counter so I had to go out to my car and get original Naturalization Certificate. Thank goodness I brought it with me. She was happy once I showed her that and proceeded to update her system and issue me a new license. I am assuming the state of Mississippi is only interested in seeing the Naturalization Certificate. Not sure how other states handle this.
Total time @ DMV - 30 minutes.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
