Our interview went very well and quickly! The IO appeared stern when he called us in but he was very nice to us and we laughed a few times. He asked me very few questions other than the Yes/No questions of the I-485 form. The IO could not believe that the I-130 wasn't in his file and he couldn't approve my AOS because of that. The I-130 was not transferred to the NYC field office from Nebraska as we had instructed them to do on our AOS cover letter. The IO has requested the file so we need to wait until it's transferred and reviewed before they will approve the AOS.

Event Description

Embassy Review : We waited nearly two hours before we were called in but there were a lot of people waiting for their interview. Our interview went very well and quickly - 15 minutes at most! The IO initially appeared stern when he called us in but he was very nice to us and we laughed a few times.
He asked me very few questions other than the Yes/No questions of the I-485 form.
He asked both my husband and I if either had been divorced, to which I said yes.
He also asked us to confirm our home address, where we got married and if we had any children together.

The IO could not believe that the I-130 wasn't in his file and although you could see that he was willing to approve me on the spot, he couldn't approve my AOS because of the missing I-130 in his file.
The I-130 was not transferred to the NYC field office from Nebraska as we had instructed them to do on our AOS cover letter.
The IO requested the file so we need to wait until it's transferred and reviewed before they will approve the AOS.
Harassment Level : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
