I will like to share my experience at the Accra consulate with you.
My appointment time was on Monday 27.10.2014 @7:30am.
I got to the consulate around 6:00am. I waited in my car till 7am and walked towards the building.
At the entrance, we were asked to form 2 queues: one for immigrant visa and another for non-immigrants. I joined the line for immigrants.
We were called by a gentleman outside who inspected my appointment letter and asked us to go inside.
We were asked to drop all metallic and electrical devices for safe keeping. We were then screened; and our bags too.
Once we entered, our appointment letters were inspected and reclipped as some pages were taken out.
We were then asked to take wait. We got seated..
I got all my documents ready for the interview.
My evidence included facebook chats, whatsapp chats and screen shots, tango screen shots,vodafone call logs with my husband's numbers marked, pictures of our wedding, vacation and visits, as well as pictures of us before we got married.
The lady who collected my documents returned a couple to me since they were not needed.
I was then asked to wait. The chief consular officer then put us under oath: he had to come out into the waiting area to do this since the microphones were not working temporarily.
I was called to do my finger printing,and asked to wait.
I was the 5th person to be called.
The consular officer was a nice white woman.
She started by asking me how I was doing. I told her I was good.
She also commented about the fact that I was taller than her, and that she had to 'look up' to me. We both laughed and that put me at ease.
She then went ahead and asked me the following questions:
Do you have children?
Is this your first marriage?
Have you lived anywhere outside Ghana?
When and where did you meet your husband?
How many times did he visit before you got married?
When did you get married?
How many people were at your ceremony?
She then showed me a picture of my husband and my siblings and asked me who they were.
Then she says to me: all is set. Thank you for bringing so much evidence. This is one of the best cases I have seen since I've been in Ghana.
She then gave me back all my documents except my marriage and birth certificate.
She congratulated me and asked me to pick up my passport 2days later (Wednesday) at 3:30pm.
She then handed me a blue slip with my name, category of visa and time of collection written on it.
She also told me not to make any travel arrangements until i get my visa.
I almost jumped in excitement. However I kept my cool.
I thank God for his favour.
I also thank all the wonderful people on VJ who have worked tirelessly to make this site what it is.
