Embassy Review : |
My interview date was on May 28, 2013 at 12.30. I went there I hour early, I had the interview date the same date with one of the VJ member, which is nice it help us to reduce our stress We waited at the gate for 30minutes and talk about our experience. There is a very friendly security guard. He said "You don't need to be worry, US embassy in Jakarta is not like what people said. We are easy and very friendly" and he gave us a very nice smile.
The security guy ask for packet 4 (mail from embassy about my interview date and time), actually they have their list but they still have to make sure. he ask for my passport as well and check if I am the right person. We started to line up and he check if we have any device like cellphone or any electric things. I entered the door and they scan my bag and they kept my phone. They gave me a name tag and a card to pick up my phone.
There are another roon need to be through. Most of the security guys there are Indonesian, they are very friendly. And I entered another room, a consulate room. I waited for my friend, she already standing at counter 5. My turn, I gave the lady (which is true like other people said she is not too friendly ) my packet 3 but I don't have my medical exam result with me, I had my medical result on next day. She said it's not ok, but she process my application anyway. And She asked me to pay for the visa Rp. 2.400.000,- on counter 6 and wait. I waited for 1 hour until my name called on counter 1. My friend she got approve, she is 1 line before me. The guy called my name (he is a friendly guy). He ask : what is my fiance name, where does he lives, where did we meet in person, how much does he make while my fiance was working on the ship. He said that we might need a sponsor (I felt suprise, and hopeless, another sponsor mean we need to wait for another 6 months), but he checked again my fiance financial and asked if my fiance own his own house, I said "Yes!" ( excited!). He cancel the sponsor. He gave me 221g form and asked for my medical exam result and my passport name with my birth certificate is not the same, 1 letter only. I don't have a problem before I've been using my passport with them wrong name for almost 8 years and had a C1/D visa. But he asked me to fix it and ask to come back on Friday or Monday.
I had my medical exam the next day and had my passport name fixed, I need to go to the imigration and have them fix it. It takes one day only. I went back to embassy on friday and gave my passport with the right name and my medical exam result on counter 5. She opened my medical exam result and check my passport, and without asking anything she gave me white slip with a date when I can pick up my passport with my visa on it!! So excited! That was very easy, it's only take 5 minute or less. 3 days office work I will be able to have my passport with the visa!!!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
