Consulate Review: Auckland, New Zealand
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 27, 2013
Embassy Review : 8:15 Arrived, with a queue lining up already
Roughly 8:30 Check my bags and give me a locker, there are a few windows. Majority went to non immigrant visa window, I was alone and see the immigration officer assistant right away because I was too early. Immigration Officer Assistant asked me a few questions to check the address in America and my fiancé’s phone number and my basic details. She went through my files and get everything ready. I paid off my visa application fee at the next window with $312 cash.

Wait ever since until roughly 10:20 Get my interview.

Immigration officer is a senior man, looked very kind wear glasses. However it seems he hasn’t been interviewing much because he had a little problem with the microphone and he may accidently muted me.

Starting with basic questions such as when did you and your fiancé meet, how did you meet? He didn’t play any word game such as asking about my “husband” and wait for me to correct him. He then asked me have we met in person, how long have we stayed with each other, and almost all the questions he asked can be found in the files I gave him. He also asked me if I had any convictions and medical problems (which is also in the files) Then he asked me to show him some pictures. My parents sent me photos of me my fiancé and my parents. He asked me if I could find any other people taking picture with Andrew. I explained that we have formally introduced Andrew to a few relatives, but my parents thought photos of themselves with Andrew would mean more. Immigration officer then smiled and tell me don’t me nervous it’s fine. He pointed to a few photos and asked me where the photos were taken.

Next thing he roughly asked me if I have any phone bills. I said most of the time me and my fiancé just call each other on Skype using internet so that it doesn’t cost anything and I do have chatting record. He said that is very smart that we save money that way; he didn’t ask me for the chatting record.

The interview goes very fast I went out at about 10:45. He said congratulations you have just got approved. It was a very relaxed environment he has this smiley face from the beginning. Therefore I thought we were going to get approved from the start.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
