Embassy Review : |
We had the interview on Friday in London and it went pretty smoothly. One word of warning is that you have to wait outside the embassy in line. We waited for 40 minutes during which there was a torrential downpour. While the US consulate workers had umbrellas, those of us who assumed we'd be under cover in case it started raining were wrong and soaked. Keep those documents and papers dry!
They were very courteous and clear. We had all the papers in order. The only issue was that we had a copy of the immigrant's birth certificate instead of the original. But since everything else was in order, there was no big problem. I had to explain that I was being transferred from the UK office to the US office of my company. I showed some emails they accepted that as proof of my ability to support my wife. Since all the papers were good, we were told to sit. After another 45 minutes or so we went to a different window and an official asked us informally about how we met and how our relationship progressed. We gave a ton of details and the story is pretty unique and we had the official laughing. We had prepared stacks of materials - 6 years worth of fotos, emails, airline tickets, a log of all the trips we've taken to see each other, but it in the end it was the story that convinced her. We were granted the visa on that day!
Now we have to wait for the courier. It can take 5-10 working days but since we're flying out on the 8th day we hope it's sooner rather than later.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
