First of all I wanted to talk about Dr. Cheema's office. If you are taking transit, you can take the Skytrain to 22nd St Station and then take the 340 bus. The bus will drop you off at 72 Ave and Scott Rd (also known as 120 st). Then it's just a short walk back towards 71 ave. His office is on the corner.
I got there for my appointment and the lady behind the desk asked for my interview letter. For those who are confused about which letter. It is Packet 4. I gave her packet 4 and my passport and the 1 photo of myself. She filled out some forms and asked me to double check my info.
Then she took me back to see Dr. Cheema. First she weighed me and measured my height. Then sat me in the waiting room. Dr. Cheema came in. He checked my blood pressure, pulse, listened to my lungs. He got me to read a couple letters off of an eye chart. He also asked me a bunch of questions. Basically asking if I was healthy, has ever has any sexual transmitted diseases, history of drinking and driving, and any past drug use. Then he called in the receptionist as he touched my lower stomach area.
Then I was informed I could go to the clinic to get my blood work done and chest Xray. When you get out of his office along 120th st, you can catch the 319. Catch it on the same side of the street that his office is on. It will take you to 84th ave. The medical clinic is on the opposite side of the street. The first floor is where you get you X ray done and the 2nd floor, your bloodwork.
The next day, after 4, you will go back to his office to get your results. The results are in a brown envelope that says DO NOT OPEN. so don't open it. Since you're in B.C., you should go across the street to the dollar store and get a plastic cover for your envelope. It has a tendency of pouring rain in B.C. and you don't want to get your results soaked. It did start pouring too, right when I left the dollar store.
Ok next is your interview! So when you finally find the building, make sure you don't have anything on you except what you need. I saw a couple people get turned away for having keys in their pocket and their cell phones. The Quiznos across the street will hold your bags for you for 10$. I put my purse there with my cell phone and other things. When I got my purse back everything was in it.
Once you are in line you can tell the guard that you are there for a K1 visa. They check your belongings and tell you to get in another line. Eventually you are allowed up the stairs. Once there you will take all of your belongings, watch, belt and coats and put them into a grey bin. They will scan the bin and you will pass through a metal detector. Wait for them to instruct you. They will tell you to go back through the detector with your belongings and wait near the elevator. If you have to use the washroom, do it at this point. The 20th floor does not have washrooms and you mat be up there for a while.
A guard will help you get on the elevator and you will get off on the 20th floors. Take a left and another left. You will see window B. There is a light switch there, turn it on if no one is at the counter. The lady at that desk asked me to put everything in a certain order. You can find that order under the consulate section of this website, so you will be all ready prepared. Then she took it from me and told me to take a seat. I sat for maybe an hour and a half before she called me up.
She asked me my fiance's name. Then she asked me for mine and my fiance's new letter of intent to marry. Make sure you have a letter of intent from the petitioner, with original signature, dated within 30 days of your interview. You also need a letter of intent, signed within 30 days of your interview. She put the package together and gave me a number, told me to sit down and wait for that number to be called.
I waited another hour and a half for my number to be called. When it was my turn, I went up to the counter and he said that he had to review my package and he would call me up when he was done. He called me up only a couple minutes after. He asked me some questions. He asked me where I lived, what I did, how I met my fiance, what he did for a living, if my parents were ok with our relationship, when we first started talking, when have we seen each other in person, how long the visits were for, when the proposal happened. That was it. I went in there expecting to be asked a bunch of questions about his family, his work history. Simple, easy questions. He told me I was approved and that I should expect the Visa within about a week. He told me to go back over to counter B.
I went back to counter B and the lady just went over what the process was once I crossed the border. She explained which envelopes I could open, and when to hand over the other envelope. Then I left the consulate, happy as a clam! Approval at last!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
