Consulate Review: Frankfurt, Germany
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 6, 2013
Embassy Review : I got there very early and was waiting for the consulate to open. I was the first one in line for immigrant visas. When the window opened I was called up to it and received a number and they checked my passport. Then I went through security and afterwards to the building the interviews take place. I received an information sheet with what to do next and what happens once I received my visa etc.

I went straight to Window 22 and handed my passport to the lady behind the window. She put it in a zipped locked plastic bag which was attached to my file and asked me to sit down and wait. I waited around 15 min and was called to window 21 where my fingerprints were taken and the guy explained to me what's going to happen next and what I will receive in the mail and that I should not open the sealed envelope, what it looks like and that I have to send in the envelope with the medical examination when I apply for my greencard. I briefly looked through all my documents and said that nothing is missing. Then I had to write my address on the DHL label and he asked me if I have any further questions.

I sat down again and waited for another 20 minutes. The consular officer asked me to lift my right hand and took my oath. I had to sign the document with the oath again and then he asked me the following questions:

Where does your fiancee work
What is he doing for work
How did you meet
Has he been to Germany
In what State are you going to live and in what city
Is this your first marriage
Do you have kids

He disappeared for a minute, came back, took a fingerprint of my index finger, handed me all the original documents and told me that everything looks fine that the visa is approved and that I will receive it in a week via mail. He also mentioned that I did a very thorough job with my documents and that they were organized very well. I guess it helps with the process when the documents are set up good.

I took me quite some strength to not burst out into tears in front of the officer when he told me that the visa is APPROVED javascript:emoticon('')javascript:emoticon('')javascript:emoticon('')

Everybody was very nice and I spend 1 hr at the embassy (well... from the time my interview was scheduled).
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
