Received RFE for document that does not exist, and told them so in the I-129f, but they want another gov't agency to provide a letter that the document does not exist! Typical gov't stupidity!
Got her out of Ukraine on special MAU flight on 03/25/2020 to repatriate USC's and Green Card holders, and to bring Ukrainians home on the return flight. God bless MAU! |

My wife does not speak English to any significant degree, although she has been taking ESL classes and I am trying to give her some practice. Since the beginning of the relationship we have communicated almost entirely in Russian. To some degree, it was just easier for me to speak in Russian than to force her to learn English quickly. So, USCIS says we must have an interpreter available by phone for the interview, I am not allowed to translate for her. I have two friends lined up to translate as needed. We get to USCIS and they DO have a Russian interpreter for her available by phone. Maybe if she only spoke Ukrainian it would have been different, but the USCIS interpreter handled the USCIS agent's questions. The ONLY question the agent asked her that she did not know the answer was "Where was your husband born, in what city?" She only knew Texas but not the city, and was kind of embarrassed about it. And scolded me for not reminding or telling her before we went to the interview. The agent gave her a "pass" anyway, and said we would get the Green Card in a week or so. |

Interview at Consular Section US Embassy Kyiv. Arrived on time, or before. Given number on entry. I went with her to the window when her number was called, to inform the consular officer that I was the petitioner, and that I speak Russian fluently. I thought it was best to do this since she speaks almost no English. Then they told me to wait a few feet from the window, because they wanted to talk with her privately. They asked her about my children and previous marriages, if she knew about them. She told them everything she knew about those subjects. Name of my children and names and number of previous wives. But she didn't get a police clearance with her maiden name on it, because she only had an internal passport for 2 years before she got married. Had to go back and get an updated police clearance, but they kept her passport and issued the visa quickly when we brought the police clearance. |

Timeline Comments: 2Congratulations on your approval. Your a few days ahead of me, I'm so excited for you!
When I got the RFE, this website said that in most cases, you will get the NOA2 (or another RFE) in 30 days of receiving the RFE. Right on schedule. 29 Days in this case. I got the required "evidence," mailed it Priority Mail, and USCIS got it 14 days after I received the RFE. NOA2 15 days later.
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
