-On April 9, 2013, I filed an online change of address form that changes my residency from IL to NY. In theory, this should force the USCIS to pry my petition from the clutches of CSC-mageddon and send it to VSC-adise. I'll let you know if that actually happens...
-On April 11, 2013, I received two confirmation emails from the USCIS. The first was titled "Your recent inquiry" and provided an overview of address change I had requested and concluded by noting that my address had been updated accordingly. The second was a more generic acknowledgement that my address had been changed. Not sure why they sent out two confirmations of the same thing, but neither indicated that my petition would be transferred as a result of the address change, so I guess I can only continue to wait for more information...
-On April 17, 2013, I called USCIS customer service to ensure that my address had been correctly updated. It had been. I also asked about whether or not my case would be transferred and got a response that my petition was definitely still in the CSC and the CS rep did not think it would be transferred unless there was some need for me to do a local interview. Honestly, it sounded to me like the rep was speculating about all of this and not drawing from official protocol, but, until I hear otherwise, I'll take him at his word that I am stuck at the CSC.
-On April 25, 2013, I received my NOA2 via text message and email at 7:30 pm CST. Couldn't be happier. |

-Wife applied for a SSN with her married name on Aug. 29, 2013 (post-wedding, pre-AOS). The office accepted our documentation and told us to wait 3-4 weeks for the card to come in the mail.
-The federal government was shut down for about two weeks on Oct. 2, 2013, which I assume halted any progress on the SSN for a time.
-On 10/22/2013, my wife received a call from the SSA asking her if she preferred the card to be made out in her maiden name or her married name. After she confirmed she wanted it made out in her married name, the SSA rep informed her that she would have to verify info with the USCIS and that the card would take another 2-4 weeks of processing. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
