Event Description
Review Date : February 1, 2014
Embassy Review : We had our interview on the 28th January at 10am. There was myself and my 3 children who were all applying for visas. K1 & 3 x K2 visas. My children 12, 9 and 6yrs old had to attend the interview also.

Before I start just a few tips for those with children. There are no toilets on the 59th floor so be sure to get your children to go before you reach the top floor. Closest toilet is on the 10th floor. Once you go up to 59th, if you go back down, you must go thru security all over again.
Take some colouring books or cards to keep your children amused and quiet. It can be a long wait for small children.

Ok so, we arrived at the MLC building at 9:15am and was told to come back 15mins before appointment. We did that and went straight up to the 10th floor.
We then went thru security. No phone or electronics allowed past that point. They will hold your bag and give you a number to pick up your items before leaving.
Once we went thru security and scanners we were asked to take a seat and wait for another person to escort you to the elevator. They swipe their cards and allow you to the 59th floor. Once up there, you pass a checkpoint where a lady/man asks to check passport and crosses your name of the list.

Then you walk thru a door after they buzz you in and you take a number and a seat. Wait for your number to be called and proceed to whichever booth is calling your number. We had to wait about 20mins before being called.

Once there, they gave me back my originals (birth certs, court documents etc). I believe they ask you for a passport photo that is recent. (I had provided some with packet 3). They checked my DS-160 confirmations. She asked me when I was planning on going to USA. She then told me everything was good to go. She asked if I had made an online profile with traveldocs or was I wanting to use my own envelope (which I had provided so I used mine). I was then asked to take a seat and wait again.

It was then that my 6yr old needed the loo, so I asked the lady we had just seen and she said fine. It would be a while anyway.
Down to lv 10, back thru security and back into the waiting room. I had let her know that we had come back.

At this time, my children started to get restless so they went to look out the window. Beautiful veiw. I urge all to go peep out the window. We were then called to booth 1 where a lovely american lady was sitting. She asked a few questions..

* How did you meet?
* Has he been here to Australia?
* Have I been to USA and for how long?
* Where do we intend on living once in US?
* Do I intend on working once in US?
* Does the father of my children approve us going?
* Have the children met my fiance?
* Do they like him?
* Why did we have a co-sponsor and how do I know him?

After about 20mins she said everything looks good. "I'm happy to say that we can approve your visastoday . Welcome to America. Have a safe trip"

Woo hoo. I savoured that moment. We then went back down to lv 10 and collected our belonging and left. By 11:30am we were out of the building.

It was easier than I thought.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
