Event Description

Embassy Review : Maria and I arrived at the Embassy at about 7:00. It was a cold Moscow morning but we didn't freeze too badly. By opening the line was about a block long, so getting there a little early is good. Russian security checks your passports (I was with Maria for the interview and there were no problems.) . We came in through security where you can surrender your cellphones (Definitely follow the guideline, do NOT bing a laptop there is no room) and then proceed through regular checkpoint security.

After that we were directed up a set of stairs into the K-1 Immigration room. It's separate from the rest of the visa processing center. After about 10 minutes we were brought to a window where we turned over all the official documents to a processing woman. I had everything sorted and pre organized before I left so I knew where everything was which was very helpful.

After that we were sent back downstairs for a very fast fingerprinting and then returned upstairs to await the actual interview. I was very surprised that the interview is conducted at the same windows where paperwork is handed over, and in front of everyone else who was waiting for their visa. It definitely makes you feel exposed. I can only imagine how Maria felt being asked so many questions in front of so many strangers... but that said, all came out well, the questions were reasonable (How did we meet, how did her parents feel about her moving so far..etc) The interviewer looked at our photos and asked about where we went, all very cut and dry before he finished with "We'll be sending you your visa by Pony Express" and both our faces lit up.

We entered at 8:00 am and were out the door by 9:40 am.

All done!!!!
Rating : Very Good
