Embassy Review : |
our appointment was at 8;30, we got there early. Everyone waits outside until your name is called. They take your passport and check it, you still are in the group of people. (do not bother getting there early to be the first in line because they call your names) after they check your passport you are called to stand on the other side of the rope in another line and 1 by 1 you go through screenings/checking for metal. If you have a phone or keys they make u check it in (there isn't a charge)
They asked you what are you here for and tell you what door to go into. We went out of the first building and into another, a lady greets you at the door, you tell her what your here for and she gives you a number. Plan to be there for hourssss. We sat down, our number was called right away I didn't go in, they asked the basic questions to him, all that you read on here. He came out and he told me that they asked him if he ever changed his name. He did, so he needed his baptism record. Of all the millions of papers we brought we didn't have that one. they told us to wait, they said we can continue the interview, but can't be approved until they have that paper. I went in after that with him (hours later) It's a long wait(every time the "number" bell rang, everyone in the place looked up to see if it was their number, like a small lottery winning, when it was your number)
Anyway, the lady was very nice and said our interview went well and as soon as we had that baptism paper they can proceed with the case. Turns out his birth date was wrong on the paper so we worked for days to get that straight and we were finally approved on 12/9/13. Whew. There is a site you can check to see the update on your case after you're assigned a case number from the national visa center. https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?
It's not as scary as everyone feels it is, its just a ball of nerves because you want to say everything right and not forget anything. If you are a real relationship, you will have no worries. oh and they are really good at responding to emails. athusiv@state.gov they reply right away. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
