Embassy Review : Arrived at the consulate at about 6:15am wanting to be first in line. That was not a problem. Other people didn't actually show up until 7:20!
I lined up to the left and eventually other people started to line up behind me. Guard showed up at about 7:30 I think and us in the door one by one. The lady at the front entrance asked for my passport, Loomis and interview letter. I had those out already and ready to hand over to her. So this part was fast for me. People did show up with bags but since I was in early I don't know if anyone was turned away.
Some people had medium bags once they got downstairs though, so I guess it wasn't an issue??
Go through security just like at the airport, down the long flight of stairs and I promptly took the seat Saylin indicated, right by the elevator.
About 20 min or so later once more people arrived downstairs a guard came down and asked us to form a line in front of the elevator door. I got on first, and stood at the far back left corner. I don't think any other VJ'ers were there, no one else did anything like I did.
Stepped off the elevator and I turned around the corner left then walked straight to window 14a/14b Cashier. Everyone just followed me, they didn't know where to go otherwise because there were no instructions given as to what to do after you get off the elevator. C1! Took a seat and waited to be called. A lot of people who came up the elevator later were completely lost as to what to do when they got off. I guess no one was giving instructions on where to get your C number.
C2 was actually called and done before I was. I guess their windows were just moving faster.
The first window you are called to, where fingerprints are done is easy. You hand over medical records and they go through a couple easy things.
Then you sit and wait until you are called again. I was interviewed by a friendly woman, she was about my age and easy to talk to. I was asked a number of questions, which kind of surprised me given that a lot of people on VJ seem to get asked 3. But it was the usual questions- How did you meet, what do you do for work, do you plan on that in the US, then other questions about what my husband does for work, where he is right now, and where we will be living in the US.
She typed and checked papers over then said I was approved. She gave me instructions on paying the new fee and that was all! I was back to the elevator by 9:05am!
Rating : Very Good
