-Arrived at 4:50 am. Hardly anyone in line. Went to line #4 against the wall. People started to come about 5:15 am. My suggestion would be to arrive at 5 am.
-6:30 the gates were opened. We handed our appointment letter over and were given a ticket and number. Males and females separated through security.
-Strongly suggest bringing snacks and drinks. Caferteria opens at 8 am and the line is long.
-At 7:10 am we were called to window #16. While we brought lots of paperwork, only the following were taken. Just one copy of each: DS 156, DS 156K, D 230 (Part 1 only). Also gave birth certificate, police letter, cedula and passport. All other items were returned!
-We then went to window #14 to pay the USD $80 and back to window #16 to show the receipt. A pamphlet was given to my fiancee explaining domestic violence in the USA.
-At 8:50 am we were called to window #15 to process her finger prints. They asked for her appointment letter but we had already given it when we entered. I stood firm and she found the letter on her desk in front of her! Suggest bringing a copy just in case.
-Our interview was 9:10 am. Called to window #22 where a lady about 30 years old was waiting. I have lived in the Dominican from 2005-2010 and have kept my apartment in Bavaro so I can defend myself fairly well speaking Spanish. I actually prefer it at times. Her Spanish was so/so but wanted to speak to me in English.
-First we were asked to state our names, sworn in and signed a form. Then she asked my fiancee how we met. I was asked what happened after we met. She asked how many times I've visited and looked at my passport confirming I had made 9-10 trips in the last two years. She also asked my fiancee why I owned an apartment in Bavaro. She glanced through our photos. Asked my fiancee if she had been in trouble with the police and if she had kids. There was some confusion because she had applied for a visa to the US when she was very young in Venezuela. The officier knew this but my fiancee had forgotten. It was not a big deal. Then the agent congratulated us and we went to Domex to pay the delivery fee. Out by 9:35 am.
